Single items and part loads to Austria

To Vienna, Linz, Salzburg or Graz

Unsere Firma Single items and part loads from Berlin to Vienna, Linz, Salzburg or Graz – with a delivery window and a clear handover.

Not every furniture transport to Austria is a complete move: often only a piano stool, a bookcase and a few boxes need to go to the children in Vienna, or the remaining furniture follows weeks after the move. For such part loads, a lorry of your own over almost 700 km is not worthwhile. Beste Umzug Unternehmen is based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21); when you enquire, we check whether your furniture can travel as a shared load on a trip towards Vienna, Linz or Salzburg, or whether a dedicated trip fits better.

By road it is around 684 km to Vienna and around 731 km to Salzburg. Customs papers are not needed within the EU; what needs clarifying is packing, a packing list, the delivery window and who will receive the furniture. The vehicle also counts: in Austria, vans up to 3.5 t need a vignette (motorway sticker), and heavier vehicles pay the GO toll. For a whole household, read our guide to the long-distance move to Austria or the page Berlin–Vienna. We are liable for your household goods under the HGB.

MAXIMUM CARE

What we clarify before the trip to Austria

Vehicle, tolls, delivery window

At Beste Umzug Unternehmen, planning a part load to Austria depends on a few questions: how much load space does your furniture take up, is a van up to 3.5 t enough or is a lorry needed, who will receive the furniture at the destination, and is a delivery window enough for you? You then receive a fixed price that also includes the vignette or GO toll. We are liable for your household goods under the HGB, limited to €620 per cubic metre; additional insurance is possible on request. Places with their own pages can be found under locations.

Well packed

Blankets, stretch film and edge protectors protect your furniture over around 700 km next to other people's household goods – on request via our packing service.

Vignette or GO toll

In Austria, vans up to 3.5 t need a vignette, and heavier vehicles pay the distance-based GO toll.

Weekend planned for

In Austria, heavy lorries are subject to a driving ban from 3 pm on Saturday until 10 pm on Sunday. We set the delivery day accordingly.

Handover at the destination

Someone receives the furniture in Austria and signs the delivery note – you yourself or a person you name to us beforehand.

move, our craft

Methodical and reliable

This guide covers furniture transport to Austria on a small scale: single pieces of furniture, a part load or things that follow after the move. It is about a shared load or a dedicated trip, packing, the vignette and GO toll, the weekend driving ban for heavy lorries and the handover at the destination. What you take care of yourself after the move – registration form (Meldezettel), car, health insurance – is explained in our checklist for emigrating to Austria.

Planning safe and relaxed

Note the dimensions, take photos, arrange who receives the furniture in Austria and agree a delivery window: with a short list, your single item becomes a plannable furniture transport at a fixed price.

Furniture, boxes, transport routes

Blankets, stretch film and edge protectors for wood and glass, labelled boxes and a bag of screws on the furniture: that way your part load arrives in Austria complete.

Costs, timing and special cases

Load space, kilometres, tolls and access at the destination determine the price. A shared load saves money if you are somewhat flexible on the delivery day in Austria.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about furniture to Austria

Answers on customs, delivery time, costs, tolls, the registration form and liability for a furniture transport to Austria.
None. Austria is part of the EU single market, and for furniture and household goods there is no customs declaration and no import duties; there is no customs stop. A packing list of all items is still sensible, because it determines the fixed price and serves as a check when unloading. Separate rules apply to your car, which our emigration checklist explains. Take your ID and important documents with you.

No customs, but a packing list and labelling

Austria is part of the EU single market. For furniture and household goods from Germany there is no customs clearance and no import duties; no accompanying papers are needed for the border. You still need a packing list – for us, because it determines the load space and therefore the fixed price, and for you, because you tick off each item on delivery. Photos of the condition before collection make the check easier.

With a shared load, name, delivery address and number of items belong on every piece of furniture and every box; screws go labelled into a bag attached to the furniture. Transport valuables and documents yourself. If you are moving to Austria yourself, register within three days of moving in using the registration form (Meldezettel) – this concerns you, not the transport.

Shared load or dedicated trip to Austria?

From Berlin it is around 684 km to Vienna, usually via Dresden and Prague; Linz is around 592 km away, Salzburg around 731 km and Graz around 895 km. Because a driver may drive for a maximum of 9 hours a day, Vienna hardly fits into a single driving day for a lorry. For a single piece of furniture, a shared load is therefore often cheaper: your furniture travels with other orders, and you get a delivery window instead of a fixed day.

The vehicle also plays a role: in Austria, vans up to 3.5 t need a vignette, heavier vehicles pay the distance-based GO toll, and heavy lorries are subject to a weekend driving ban from 3 pm on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday. At the destination we clarify the floor, lift and stopping space in front of the building; photos of the entrance and stairwell help us with this.
