Packing fast: last-minute

Last-minute move
Packing fast: what first, what last, what not at all
Last-minute
When the move is closer than you thought, only a clear order helps. First secure what must not get lost: documents, keys, medication, charging cables – in a bag you carry yourself. Then pack room by room, starting with what you will no longer need before the move. The kitchen and bathroom come last. Sorting things out now costs time; it is better to put anything doubtful in boxes labelled “to sort”.
Dismantle furniture the evening before and tape screws in a bag to each piece. A date with a removal company is sometimes possible at short notice, but not guaranteed – ask straight away. If you want to have things packed, you will find advice under Packing service; for very short notice under Short-notice move. And most importantly: do not take on more than is realistic in the time – bedding and coffee for the first morning are more important than perfectly stacked boxes.

Ask at short notice
Fixed price after a video call or survey
Call us on 01625978461; we will tell you straight away whether a date is free. After a video call or a short survey we quote a fixed price, on request with a packing service for the kitchen and fragile items. Whether short-notice surcharges apply is then stated in the quote – before you commit.
Quotes available individually based on workload, scheduling and the desired scope of services.

What we take care of when time is short
Packing, carrying, assembly
We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and, for a short-notice move, handle packing, dismantling, transport and assembly if a date is free. We bring the materials. You concentrate on documents, valuables and cancelling contracts; we concentrate on furniture and boxes. We are liable for your household goods under § 451e HGB at €620 per cubic metre; for boxes you pack yourself, liability for the contents is limited. We will tell you immediately and honestly on the phone whether a date is free. Parking restriction and storage are also possible at short notice if there is enough time.

Six rules for packing fast
When time is short, order matters more than perfection. These six rules help you finish in a few days without losing anything important. And if it really is not enough: a packing service for the kitchen and glassware saves the most time.

Secure,
pack, dismantle
A last-minute move can be divided into three steps: secure the essentials, pack room by room, dismantle furniture. How to pack properly when there is a little more time is explained in the article Packing properly. Another guide collects typical mistakes with short-notice moves. If you still have a few weeks, it is better to plan calmly with a checklist and the right packing order.

Questions about last-minute packing
The 3-hour packing method for emergencies
If you have very little time, work on a “zone by zone” principle. Start with the room you use least and work your way towards the kitchen and bathroom. Use sturdy moving boxes of a uniform size so that they are easy to stack.
At the same time, pack a “first-night box” with a toothbrush, charging cable and a change of clothes, so that the first evening in the new flat is relaxed. This method reduces stress considerably and ensures a smooth last-minute move.
Avoiding typical mistakes in a spontaneous move
A common mistake is packing at random without labelling, which later leads to hours of searching. Underestimating weight and box size also often leads to damaged bottoms or torn handles. Thinking too late about bulky items such as furniture or electrical appliances costs valuable time on moving day.
Also avoid storing important documents in ordinary boxes – use a separate folder instead. With realistic time planning and professional support, these mistakes in a last-minute move can be reliably avoided.
What a move costs
Small moves are affordable with us: 1-room flats from €349. As the size increases, costs rise moderately – 2-room flats from €605, 3-room flats from €899 and 4-room flats from €1,299. For houses and villas we prepare individual quotes. For long-distance moves we charge from €4.10/km. Book your free survey now.
Cost factors around your move
In a move, it is above all the volume and the distance (from €4.10/km) that determine the price. Floor and lift affect the staff required, while a parking restriction zone settles the parking situation. Additional services such as furniture assembly or a shared load can be booked as options.
