Moving alongside a full-time job: packing and planning in stages

Singles guide · Part 12
Full-time job, a move, nobody to help – how it all fits
Packing after work
A move for singles with a full-time job rarely fails because of the amount of stuff, but because of time. If you start four weeks before and pack one area on two evenings a week, you will be finished without any late nights. We can also clarify questions about your private move with you by phone during your lunch break.
For moving day itself you usually only need one day off: we load, transport and assemble while you take care of the handover and meter readings. There is no general statutory entitlement to special leave for a private move; check your employment contract or collective agreement. For damage we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB). More details about our services can be found under private move.

Offers available individually, depending on effort, scheduling and the scope of services required.

How we free up time for working people
One day off is enough
If you work full time, you have evenings and weekends for the move – and often only one day of leave. That is why we take over the part that costs the most time: dismantling, carrying, transport and assembly, and on request packing the kitchen too. We plan for narrow stairwells and small lifts during the survey. For the transport we are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB). We are based in Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and operate nationwide; you can see whether your destination has its own page under locations.

Moving
alongside a full-time job
Part 12 is about a move as a single person alongside a full-time job: how do you spread the packing over four weeks, which day of the week suits the move, and how much leave do you really need? We explain why there is no general entitlement to special leave and what a collective agreement can provide for. If you are planning a long-distance move because of a new job, you will find all the important information on the process and costs under long-distance moves.

Frequently asked questions about moving alongside your job
Pack less, enjoy more free evenings
A single person's move is the perfect opportunity to declutter consistently and get rid of unnecessary ballast. The fewer items you own, the quicker and cheaper the whole moving process will be. Use the weeks before the moving date to sort clothes, books and furniture critically and to sell or donate what you do not need.
Fewer boxes mean not only less carrying but also lower costs for packing material and transport volume. Follow the motto "quality over quantity" and start life in your new flat with a liberating feeling.
Efficient time planning for working people
If you are single and working, you often have little time for organising a move. A clear schedule with realistic stages helps you keep track even alongside a full diary. Start packing the first boxes at least four weeks before the moving date to avoid last-minute stress.
Our private move service can be adapted flexibly to your working hours, so that a move at the weekend or early in the morning is also possible without any problem. Whether you are entitled to a day off for moving day is explained in the article Moving with special leave.
Fair prices for every moving need
Small or large – we have the right offer for every moving need. A 1-room flat costs from €365, a 2-room flat from €609. For 3 rooms we charge from €899, for 4 rooms from €1,269. We calculate larger moves for houses or villas individually in order to offer you fair terms. For long-distance moves a price from €4.15 per kilometre applies. It is best to arrange a free survey straight away.
How is the price of a move made up?
First of all, the volume plays a central role, followed by the distance, which starts at €4.15/km. Further factors are the floor, whether there is a lift and a possible parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone). For additional services we recommend furniture assembly and a shared load.
