Key answers for your move in Leverkusen
A move within Leverkusen depends on the size of the flat and the effort involved. A 2-room flat is usually from €609, a 3-room flat from €884. The exact distance between Opladen and Schlebusch plays a minor role, as both neighbourhoods are within Leverkusen.
How a move in Leverkusen works
A move in Leverkusen has its own rules, even though Cologne is only around ten kilometres to the south. The city is shaped by the Chempark with the Bayer works on the Rhine; the A1 and A3 motorways cross at the Leverkusen interchange within the city, and the A1 crosses the Rhine near Wiesdorf. We come from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and plan the journey so that the lorry is outside your door within the agreed time window.
It starts with a free survey by video or on site, during which we record the volume of furniture, floor, lift and parking options. You then receive a fixed-price quote without hidden costs.
- Free survey and advice
- Fixed-price quote with every item listed
- Packing and dismantling on request
- Journey from Berlin and transport
- Assembly and furniture installation in the new flat
- Optional final cleaning and clearance
For a smooth household move in Leverkusen, the no-stopping zone outside the door is often the most important point: the city sets fixed deadlines for it (see the section on the no-stopping zone below). Especially in Wiesdorf and Opladen, where parking space is scarce, you should therefore enquire early. On Bayer 04 home match days around the BayArena, it is worth checking the fixture list before the moving day is fixed. That way moving day becomes a well-planned process with a fixed contact person.
3 city districts, 13 neighbourhoods: residential areas in Leverkusen
Since the 1975 local government reform, Leverkusen has been divided into three city districts and 13 neighbourhoods, each bringing its own conditions for a move in Leverkusen. At the centre lies Wiesdorf with its pedestrian zone, the Rathaus-Galerie and many commercial buildings, where loading zones are scarce. Opladen, a separate district town until 1975, has its own railway station and, in the Neue Bahnstadt Opladen, TH Köln's Leverkusen campus. The city itself was formed in 1930 from Wiesdorf, Schlebusch, Steinbüchel and Rheindorf; in 1975 Opladen, Bergisch Neukirchen and Hitdorf were added. Accordingly, buildings, street widths and parking options differ from one neighbourhood to the next.
Schlebusch belongs to District III together with Steinbüchel, Lützenkirchen and Alkenrath, while Küppersteg, Bürrig, Quettingen and Bergisch Neukirchen form District II with Opladen. On the Rhine lie Rheindorf and Hitdorf, from where a ferry crosses to Köln-Langel; together with Wiesdorf and Manfort they form District I.
- District I: Wiesdorf, Manfort, Rheindorf, Hitdorf
- District II: Opladen, Küppersteg, Bürrig, Quettingen, Bergisch Neukirchen
- District III: Schlebusch, Steinbüchel, Lützenkirchen, Alkenrath
Whether a rented flat in Manfort or a house in Bergisch Neukirchen: because our team travels from Berlin, we clarify the route, parking options and material requirements for every address during the survey so that your household move runs smoothly.
Moving costs in Leverkusen: what you should realistically budget for
Moving costs in Leverkusen depend on the size of the flat, the floor, the distance and additional services. The number of rooms serves as a guide, although factors such as a lift, the walk from the parking spot and bulky waste disposal can affect the final price. We calculate transparently and give you a binding fixed price in advance.
| Flat size | Price from | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | from €339 | 3–4 hours |
| 2-room flat | from €609 | 4–6 hours |
| 3-room flat | from €884 | 6–8 hours |
| Long-distance move | from €4.25/km | depending on distance |
Additional costs can arise from a parking restriction zone, which costs between €30 and €100 per day depending on the neighbourhood, and from special services such as piano transport or an accompanying clearance of the cellar or attic. If you only want to transport a few pieces of furniture, you save real money with our part load, as the cargo space is shared with other moves.
- Free survey before the quote is prepared
- Fixed price after a survey without hidden costs
- One combined quote when several services are booked together
- Transparent billing by effort or at a flat rate
Especially with narrow streets in Opladen or Wiesdorf, an early enquiry is worthwhile so that the no-stopping zone can be applied for on time and moving day can be well prepared. That way you keep the moving costs in Leverkusen in view from the start and avoid unpleasant additional charges.
No-stopping zone and parking when moving in Leverkusen
Anyone moving in Leverkusen knows the problem: in densely built-up areas such as Wiesdorf or around Opladen station, parking space is scarce. Without a reserved space, carrying distances get longer because the removal van has to park far from the entrance. A no-stopping zone applied for in good time helps here.
According to the city, private individuals or moving companies apply for the exemption permit from the Public Order and Road Traffic department, also online. For a parking restriction zone our price list states €30 to €100 per day – plus the city's fees. The deadlines are important:
- Apply early – the city's deadline is given in the section below
- Put up the signs in good time before the date
- State the date and time on additional signs
- Document the set-up with photos
Good preparation is particularly crucial in Opladen and near the pedestrian zone in Wiesdorf. In residential areas such as Steinbüchel, where visitor parking can be scarce, a reserved area outside the front door can also help. For commercial properties in the vicinity of the Chempark, the site's access rules also apply. Talk to us early: we tell you the length and period of the zone so that the application can be submitted on time and your move in Leverkusen runs without searching for a parking space.
From Leverkusen to the Ruhr area, to Cologne – or Berlin
Besides moves within the city, we also handle long-distance moves from Leverkusen. The A1 (Cologne–Dortmund) and the A3 (Frankfurt–Oberhausen) cross within the city, and in the west the A59 leads to Düsseldorf. For moves over long distances our price list states from €4.25 per kilometre, depending on the volume of furniture and additional services such as packing or assembly; the binding figure is the fixed price after a survey.
Frequent destinations in North Rhine-Westphalia with their own location page:
- Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn – the Rhine corridor
- Wuppertal and Hagen – Bergisches Land and the edge of the Sauerland
- Duisburg, Krefeld and Oberhausen – Lower Rhine
- Essen, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund and Hamm – Ruhr area
From Leverkusen to our location on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit it is around 561 road kilometres; we plan moves in both directions with a fixed arrival window. For smaller volumes we offer an affordable part load, in which your belongings share the cargo space with other transports. For long-distance moves, too, you receive a binding fixed-price calculation from us, so that you know from the outset what costs to expect.
Services for your move in Leverkusen
For your move in Leverkusen, we as a Berlin moving company offer a comprehensive range of services that goes far beyond simply carrying furniture. Our aim is to offer you every aspect of the move from a single source, so that you do not have to take care of anything yourself.
- Household move – from a small flat to a detached house in Schlebusch or Bergisch Neukirchen
- Company move – for offices and businesses around the Chempark and the city centre
- Part load – affordable transport of smaller volumes
- Clearance – of cellars, attics or complete household clearances
- Piano transport – dedicated transport with its own securing
- Senior move – sensitive support when moving to a smaller flat or care facility
- Student move – flexible and budget-conscious for rooms in shared flats and studios
- Parking restriction zone – application and signage for stress-free loading and unloading
We combine these services individually, so that every move in Leverkusen is tailored exactly to the situation on site. A company move near the Chempark, for example, needs different access planning from a household move in a residential area in Steinbüchel. We also carry out clearances after a death or before selling a property discreetly and reliably. We set the vehicle size and team strength after the survey – for short distances within Leverkusen just as for supra-regional moves via the A1 and A3.
Office and company moves at the Bayer location of Leverkusen
As the headquarters of the Bayer group and home of the Chempark, Leverkusen is an important business location in North Rhine-Westphalia. Numerous medium-sized companies, service providers and start-ups have also settled in Wiesdorf, Opladen and the business parks along the A1. For these companies we offer a professional company move in Leverkusen that affects ongoing business as little as possible.
In advance we draw up a moving plan with time windows for IT infrastructure, file logistics and furniture assembly. Server rooms or laboratory areas in the vicinity of the Chempark often have their own access and safety rules, which you should tell us about in advance. Weekend or night moves can also be arranged, so that employees find a ready-to-use workplace on Monday morning.
- Dismantling and assembly of office furniture and filing cabinets
- Secure packing of IT equipment and servers
- Labelling system for quick retrieval
- Applying for parking restriction zones for delivery areas
- Moves outside business hours possible
For companies relocating only individual departments, a part load is often suitable, while larger relocations are handled entirely as a classic company move. An accompanying clearance of old office space is often part of the scope, for example when obsolete furniture or old files need to be disposed of properly. We clarify access, loading zone and no-stopping zone for both sites before the date, so that waiting times stay short and the transition to the new premises goes smoothly.
Student moves to the Leverkusen campus & booking
With TH Köln's Leverkusen campus in Opladen, students regularly come to the city, often moving into rooms in shared flats, small apartments or studios. For this group we offer a budget-conscious student move in Leverkusen that responds flexibly to tight budgets and short-notice dates.
- Compact moves with a short time window
- Fair flat-rate prices for rooms in shared flats and studios
- Flexible dates, including at weekends or the end of the semester
- Optional parking restriction zone for narrow streets around the campus
We deliberately keep the booking process straightforward: after a short enquiry by phone, email or contact form, you receive a non-binding quote within a short time. For larger moves we recommend a free survey on site or by video call, so that we can realistically assess the volume of furniture and access routes.
- Enquiry by phone, email or online form
- Free survey and individual quote
- Date confirmation with a fixed price
- The move carried out by our team from Berlin
- Handover and final check in the new flat
Older flatmates or relatives who move into a smaller flat or care facility as part of a change of home also benefit from our sensitive senior move. For students who only need to transport a few boxes and a bed, a part load is often worthwhile instead of a complete removal van. That way we find the right, economical solution for every situation in Leverkusen – from the first room in a shared flat to the family home – including a student move at a fair fixed price.
No-stopping zone for your move in Leverkusen: application, signs and fees
For parking during flat moves, the City of Leverkusen provides for an exemption permit. According to the city, it is needed to put up no-stopping signs or to park in no-stopping areas. Private individuals and moving companies can apply for it at the Public Order and Road Traffic department (Fachbereich Ordnung und Straßenverkehr); the application is also available as the online service “Einrichtung eines zeitlich begrenzten Haltverbots” (setting up a temporary no-stopping zone).
Deadlines and rules according to the city:
- Application at least 14 days before the moving date.
- Set up the no-stopping zone three full days before the date (day of set-up plus 3 days).
- Two portable no-stopping signs mark out the area; additional signs show the date, start and end time.
- The lower edge of the signs must be at least two metres above the ground, or 2.20 metres on cycle paths.
The city does not provide the signs; you can hire them for a fee from the Technische Betriebe Leverkusen (TBL), Borsigstraße 15. For an absolute no-stopping zone covering up to two streets, the city states 19 euros for one day, 31 euros for one week and 45 euros for one month. If the permit is lost or changed, a charge of 12 euros applies. According to the city, a site inspection may be necessary, for example for an external lift or if the vehicle is to stand in a place not approved for stopping.
Contact: Roadworks and Permits (Baustellen und Erlaubnisse), phone 0214 406-36310, email [email protected]. You can see our service under parking restriction zone, and background information in the moving guide for Leverkusen.
Re-registration in Leverkusen: Wiesdorf citizens' office, online registration and deadline
After moving to Leverkusen, according to the city you have 14 days to register or re-register your residence. Late registration is an administrative offence under § 54 Absatz 2 of the Federal Registration Act (Bundesmeldegesetz). The city names two ways.
- In person: at the citizens' office (Bürgerbüro), Wiesdorfer Platz 32, 51373 Leverkusen, after booking an appointment (online, by email or by phone on 0214 406-33120).
- Online: via wohnsitzanmeldung.gov.de. For this you need the activated eID function of your ID card and a free BundID account. A personal visit is then not required.
You must bring the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) and your ID, and for children their IDs or birth certificates. Registration is free of charge. After online registration you update the chip in your ID card; according to the city, the new address stickers are sent by the Bundesdruckerei. If you are moving from abroad, the city requires additional documents such as marriage or birth certificates with a certified translation. If you also want to change the address in your vehicle documents, the city states 10.80 euros per vehicle, and valid proof of a roadworthiness test (TÜV) is then required.
Plan the registration into the month of your move. Check the current opening hours before your visit. For moves to neighbouring cities, see Cologne, Düsseldorf or Bonn. You will find the complete overview for the state under North Rhine-Westphalia.
