Hillsides in Hohenlimburg

Steep access roads require suitable vehicles and additional carrying distances.

In Wehringhausen and parts of Haspe, a parking restriction zone often makes sense.

Hagen as a traffic hub

Proximity to the A1, A45 and A46 makes long-distance moves easier but calls for scheduling because of peak congestion.

No-stopping zone, bulky waste, re-registration: questions from Hagen

Key answers for your move in Hagen

Answers on moving, the no-stopping zone, bulky waste and re-registration in Hagen – with information from the city and HEB and our price list.

An average flat move within Hagen, for example from Haspe to Emst, usually takes between 4 and 8 hours depending on volume and floor. Narrow access in Wehringhausen or hillside locations in Hohenlimburg can slightly increase the time required.

Moving in Hagen: the process between the Ruhr and the Volme

A move in Hagen comes with some particular features that we, as a moving company from Berlin (Stromstraße 21), plan for in advance. The so-called Volme city lies on the Ruhr, Lenne, Volme and Ennepe rivers and is known as the “Gateway to the Sauerland” – a location that makes for varied, partly hilly terrain. Especially in Hohenlimburg, Delstern or Berchum, steep streets and narrow access roads are not unusual, which calls for careful planning of vehicle size and carrying distances.

The A1, A45 and A46 motorways run through the city, which makes the journey and deliveries from the region easier. At peak times these routes can get busy – we take this into account when scheduling.

Our process for a household move in Hagen is divided into clearly structured steps:

  • Free survey on site or by video
  • Individual quote with a transparent cost breakdown
  • Proper packing of furniture, boxes and special items
  • Journey from Berlin and transport in a suitable vehicle
  • Assembly, furniture installation and handover of the new flat

Especially in densely built-up period-building areas such as Wehringhausen or the city centre around Hagen Hauptbahnhof, narrow stairwells and limited loading zones are typical. We ask about these conditions in advance and plan stopping areas, lift use and time windows accordingly. Proximity to neighbouring cities such as Dortmund, Bochum or Iserlohn also plays a role in many moves, for example when commuters switch between the Ruhr area and the Sauerland. With a team from Berlin, a fixed arrival time and a structured process, we make sure your move in Hagen runs smoothly, on schedule and without nasty surprises – from the first survey to the last box in the new flat.

5 city districts: residential areas for your move in Hagen

Hagen is divided into five city districts of very different character, which affects planning and logistics for every move in Hagen. The city centre around Hagen-Mitte is shaped by commercial buildings, apartment buildings and limited parking space, while neighbourhoods such as Emst, Boele or Vorhalle are characterised more by detached houses and quieter residential areas.

  • Hagen-Mitte: central location, many flats on upper floors, limited stopping areas
  • Wehringhausen: densely built-up period-building area with narrow streets
  • Eilpe & Dahl: mixed housing in the Volme valley
  • Haspe: neighbourhood rich in tradition with an industrial history
  • Hohenlimburg: independent city district with Hohenlimburg Castle, hilly surroundings
  • Boele & Emst: quiet residential areas with detached houses
  • Delstern & Berchum: green outskirts close to the Sauerland

For flats on hillsides, for example around Hohenlimburg or Delstern, we plan carrying distances and vehicle positioning particularly precisely, as there is often no level access here. In the dense buildings of Wehringhausen or Hagen-Mitte, on the other hand, a parking restriction zone often makes sense to secure loading and unloading times. Anyone moving from a student setting near the FernUniversität Hagen will often find suitable housing in residential areas such as Eilpe or Emst. We clarify the topographical and structural differences between Hagen's neighbourhoods during the survey and adapt vehicle size, team strength and scheduling individually to each location – for a move that works smoothly regardless of the neighbourhood.

Moving costs in Hagen: transparent prices

Moving costs in Hagen depend on several factors: the size of the flat, the floor, the distance, accessibility and any additional services required, such as a parking restriction zone or clearance. So that you can budget early, we give you realistic guide values for local moves within Hagen and the region.

ServicePrice from
Move of a 1-room flat€365
Move of a 2-room flat€594
Move of a 3-room flat€909
Long-distance move (per km)from €4.25
Parking restriction zone (per day)€30–100

These values are guide values and can vary depending on the individual effort. A move from an upper floor without a lift in Wehringhausen, for example, requires more staff hours than a ground-floor move in Boele. The distance also plays a role: a move within Hagen differs considerably in price from a move to Dortmund, Bochum or even elsewhere in Germany.

Additional services such as clearance, piano transport or a senior move with particular support needs are calculated separately and always communicated transparently in advance. For every move in Hagen we prepare an individual quote after a free survey, so that no hidden costs arise. That way you keep full control of the costs of your move from the first enquiry to the final invoice – whether a small student flat in Eilpe or a large family flat in Hohenlimburg.

Parking restriction zone & parking when moving in Hagen

Especially in densely built-up neighbourhoods such as Hagen-Mitte, Wehringhausen or around the Emilienplatz, enough parking space for removal vehicles is often in short supply. So that moving day does not stall for lack of stopping space, a parking restriction zone directly outside your property helps.

In Hagen, the city's traffic department accepts the application by email, and according to the city the signs must be up three full working days before moving day. To clarify in advance:

  • Application to the traffic department of the City of Hagen
  • Clarification of the exact set-up times and zone length
  • Communication with residents if needed
  • Checking the area on moving day

For a parking restriction zone, our price list states between €30 and €100 per day, depending on location, period and effort. In narrow streets of period buildings such as in Wehringhausen or parts of Haspe, such a zone is particularly useful, as there is little parking space there anyway and loading areas would otherwise quickly be blocked. In Hohenlimburg, too, with its partly narrow access roads to the historic centre, a reserved area can speed up the process considerably.

Without a designated parking restriction zone, there is a risk that removal vehicles have to park further away, which means longer carrying distances and therefore higher costs and more time. We therefore recommend checking early for every inner-city move in Hagen whether a parking restriction zone makes sense. That way we secure short distances, smooth loading and a quick process – regardless of which Hagen neighbourhood your new home is in.

From Hagen to Berlin, Dortmund or Düsseldorf

With the A1, A45 and A46 in the city area, Hagen is a good starting point for a long-distance move to almost any region of Germany. From Hagen you can reach many important destinations in North Rhine-Westphalia within a short time, which also makes coordinating part loads easier.

For longer distances we plan every part load transport so that your household goods can be combined cost-efficiently with other consignments. A long-distance move from Hagen is calculated from €4.25 per kilometre, depending on the volume, floor and staff required.

From Hagen to our location on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit it is around 505 road kilometres, mostly via the A1 and A2. By lorry we allow about seven and a half hours including a break.

We also handle moves within North Rhine-Westphalia, for example to Dortmund, Bochum, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg, Hamm, Bielefeld, Düsseldorf, Bonn or Krefeld. If an already planned trip fits, the cargo space can be shared as a part load – which can lower costs.

Whether moving to the Sauerland, to the coast or to another metropolitan region in Germany – we plan routes, stopovers and time windows so that your household goods arrive at the destination safely, punctually and at a fair price.

Services for your move in Hagen

As a moving company from Berlin-Moabit, we offer a broad range of services for Hagen that goes far beyond transport alone. Our aim is to offer the right solution for every moving situation – private or commercial.

We clarify local conditions – narrow streets in Wehringhausen, hillsides around Hohenlimburg – for every service in advance. For bulky or fragile items such as pianos we plan suitable securing and enough carriers, while for clearances proper, environmentally sound disposal is ensured.

Short-notice requests are also possible with us, provided capacity allows. We choose the vehicle size according to the address and volume – for narrow inner-city streets just as for moves to the surrounding area. That way you get all moving services from a single source, coordinated by a fixed contact person.

Office and company moves in Hagen: Kabel, Lennetal, city centre

As a traditional industrial and business location in the southern Ruhr area, Hagen is home to numerous medium-sized companies, for example in Kabel, in the Lennetal or in the city centre. For a smooth company move in Hagen, precise planning is crucial so that business is interrupted for as short a time as possible.

Our company move service includes:

  • Dismantling and assembly of office furniture and workstations
  • Proper transport of IT equipment and servers
  • Labelling and a system for finding files again quickly
  • Moves outside business hours or at the weekend
  • Coordination with property managers and facility management

Especially companies in Hagen city centre or in business parks with limited delivery zones benefit from a parking restriction zone set up in advance, to reliably secure lorry access and loading times. For office clearances or moves combined with disposing of old furniture and files, we also support you with our clearance service.

For moves between Hagen and neighbouring economic areas such as Dortmund or Bochum, too, we factor routes and rush hours on the A1, A45 and A46 into the schedule. A fixed contact person accompanies the entire process – from the first inventory and a detailed moving plan to the final set-up at the new location. That way we minimise downtime, protect sensitive equipment and make sure employees can quickly get back to productive work at the new location.

Student moves around the FernUniversität & booking

As the home of the FernUniversität Hagen, Germany's only state distance-learning university, the city has a special connection to students – even though many courses are taken remotely, there is administration, on-site teaching and a student environment locally, for example in residential areas around Emst and Eilpe. For smaller flats and rooms in shared flats we offer a special student move tailored to a limited budget and usually a modest volume.

Typical features of our student move in Hagen:

  • Compact teams for smaller flats and rooms in shared flats
  • Flexible dates, including at short notice at the change of semester
  • Fair fixed prices without hidden costs
  • Optional combination with a part load for longer distances

We deliberately keep the booking process simple so that you can get your preferred date quickly and easily:

  • 1. Enquiry by phone, email or online form
  • 2. Free assessment of the volume, with a short survey if necessary
  • 3. Binding quote with a transparent cost breakdown
  • 4. Date confirmation including clarification of parking space or a parking restriction zone
  • 5. The move carried out by our well-coordinated team

Families, commuters or older customers who need a careful senior move also benefit from this clearly structured booking process. Regardless of whether your move takes place within Hagen, for example from Haspe to Hohenlimburg, or as a long-distance move to another city – we provide a dependable schedule, clear communication and a contact person who accompanies you from the first enquiry to the final touch.

No-stopping zone for your move in Hagen: email application to the traffic department

In Hagen, the city's traffic department issues the “Ausnahmegenehmigung temporäre Haltverbote” (exemption permit for temporary no-stopping zones) for removal vans. You submit the application by email to [email protected]. You must state the exact moving day, the moving time (from and to) and the official registration number of the removal vehicle.

The fees are staggered by days: 20 euros for one day, 40 euros for two days and 70 euros for three to seven days. According to the city, an extension is not possible.

The signage is important. The no-stopping signs must be put up three full working days before moving day, according to the city as traffic signs 283-10 and 283-20, each on its own post. Each sign needs an additional sign showing the start, for example “Umzug am 16.07.25 ab 7 Uhr” (move on 16.07.25 from 7 am). If the zone is on a parking lane or verge, sign 1052-37 must also be attached. You can hire the signs from local sign makers for a fee or have them put up by them. The traffic department informs the police in advance; if a car is nevertheless parked in the no-stopping zone on moving day, call the police. How we plan your move around these deadlines is explained under parking restriction zone and in the moving guide for Hagen. Apply for the permit early enough for the signs to be up in time, and fix the moving day and time with us before you send the email.

Hagen: city districts, bulky waste collection by HEB and re-registration

According to its main statutes, Hagen is divided into five city districts: Hagen-Mitte, Hagen-Nord, Hohenlimburg, Eilpe/Dahl and Haspe. For a move there, access and carrying distances matter most, so we ask about the floor, lift and parking situation in advance. In the guide for newcomers to Hagen you will find further tips on settling in.

In Hagen, bulky waste is collected for a fee by the waste disposal company HEB. Bookings are made through the customer office on 02331 3544 4444, followed by written confirmation. According to HEB, the basic fee is 25 euros and includes the journey, 15 minutes of loading time and 200 kg; each additional 10 kg costs 1.35 euros. According to HEB, the lead time is several weeks. The items must be ready at ground level in front of the building, and the customer or an authorised person must be present. HEB does not take windows, doors, washbasins, renovation waste, boxes or moving boxes as bulky waste.

After moving in, you should re-register within two weeks. For this, the City of Hagen requires an appointment at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt, terminvergabe.hagen.de), the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung), the re-registration form and your ID card; re-registration is free of charge. Since September 2025, online registration via the service portal has also been possible. You can only re-register after the move; registering in advance is not legally possible. Owners do not need a landlord confirmation.

Always one step ahead.
