Your questions about moving in Krefeld
A move within Krefeld starts from €359 for a 1-room flat, from €609 for a 2-room flat and from €894 for a 3-room flat. The exact price depends on the floor, the distance between neighbourhoods such as Bockum and Fischeln and any additional services you want.
Moving in Krefeld: the process on the left bank of the Lower Rhine
Krefeld, affectionately known as the “City of Velvet and Silk”, lies on the left bank of the Lower Rhine between Düsseldorf and the Dutch border and has around 230,000 inhabitants. Praktik Transport und Umzüge comes from Berlin (Stromstraße 21) and plans moves in Krefeld individually for every address: from the narrow streets in the centre of Linn to the wide streets of the outer districts. Its convenient location on the A57 (Cologne–Nijmegen), the A44 (Aachen–Kassel) and close to the A40 makes Krefeld an important logistics hub in the Rhineland.
A move in Krefeld differs considerably depending on the neighbourhood: while cramped living space and limited parking are typical in the city centre around the Ostwall, neighbourhoods such as Traar or Verberg offer spacious detached houses with their own driveway. Our team plans every household move individually and takes local conditions into account, such as the proximity to the Rhine port, the railway tracks in Oppum or the pedestrian zone in the city centre.
The typical process begins with a free survey on site or by video, followed by a transparent fixed-price quote. We then take care of proper packing, the journey from Berlin, transport and assembly in the new flat. A parking restriction zone and furniture assembly are part of the quote on request; you take care of registering at the citizens' office (Bürgeramt) yourself.
Whether a move within Krefeld, from Fischeln to Bockum, or a long-distance move to another region – we ensure a stress-free process with personal support. Clarifying access, parking situation and the city's deadlines in advance saves time, avoids parking problems and makes moving day as pleasant as possible.
From Hüls to Fischeln: residential areas in Krefeld
Krefeld is divided into numerous neighbourhoods of very different character – which has a direct impact on the planning, access and effort of every move. For our planning we ask about the features of the location in advance:
- Bockum: upmarket residential area with period buildings, some narrow streets and limited parking – parking restriction zones often make sense here.
- Fischeln: quiet neighbourhood in the south with many detached houses.
- Hüls: village charm, many semi-detached houses, ideal for family moves with a garden.
- Uerdingen: port neighbourhood on the Rhine with industrial and residential areas, some difficult access near the port.
- Linn: historic flair around Linn Castle; narrow lanes in the medieval centre require precise planning.
- Traar and Verberg: popular residential areas with spacious plots on the edge of the city towards Meerbusch.
- Innenstadt/Mitte: high housing density, many apartment buildings without a lift and little parking space.
- Oppum and Gartenstadt: good rail connections, mixed buildings of period and modern architecture.
For flats on upper floors without a lift, which are common in Krefeld city centre, we plan additional time and suitable equipment. In neighbourhoods with narrow access such as Linn or the city centre, we recommend setting up a parking restriction zone early so that the removal van can be positioned right outside the door. That way your move runs smoothly and efficiently regardless of the neighbourhood.
Moving costs in Krefeld: transparent prices
Moving costs in Krefeld depend on the size of the flat, the floor, the distance and the additional services you want. We always calculate transparently and without hidden fees, so that you can plan your budget precisely.
| Type of move | Price from |
|---|---|
| 1-room flat | €359 |
| 2-room flat | €609 |
| 3-room flat | €894 |
| Long-distance move (per km) | from €4.25/km |
| Parking restriction zone (per day) | €30–100 |
These guide values apply to moves within Krefeld, for example from Fischeln to Uerdingen or from the city centre to Traar. Additional factors such as the number of floors, a missing lift in period buildings in Bockum's residential areas or particularly bulky furniture can affect the price. Additional services such as clearance of old cellars, professional piano transport or a gentle senior move also affect the total cost.
To prepare a dependable quote for you, we carry out a free survey before every larger move – in person on site in Krefeld or conveniently by video call. That way you avoid nasty surprises on moving day and receive a fixed price that includes all agreed items. The journey from Berlin is already included, so that you can realistically assess the costs from the outset.
Parking restriction zone & parking when moving in Krefeld
Anyone moving in Krefeld knows the problem: especially in the city centre, in Linn or around the Ostwall, parking space is scarce and streets are often narrow. So that the removal van can stand right outside the front door, a parking restriction zone helps – applied for in good time; according to the city, the applicant has the signs put up via a hire company.
For a parking restriction zone our price list states 30 to 100 euros per day, depending on location and duration. In busy areas such as Krefeld city centre or near the Rhine port, setting one up is particularly advisable to avoid long carrying distances and parking offences.
The following points are important when parking in Krefeld:
- Apply around three weeks in advance: according to the city, 15 days' processing, signs four days before the date
- No exemption permit on Sundays and public holidays
- Narrow lanes in Linn require smaller vehicles or reloading
- Business parks such as in Oppum or at the Chempark Uerdingen have their own access rules
- Resident parking areas, for example in Uerdingen and the city centre
According to the city, the responsible office is the traffic regulation office in the Safety and Public Order department; what we take on for the application and signs is set out in our quote. Planned in good time, moving day runs smoothly – without parking tickets, without unnecessary waiting and without stressful searching for a parking space in busy streets.
From Krefeld to Berlin or neighbouring cities
Not every move ends within the city limits – many people from Krefeld move to other regions of Germany or even abroad for work or private reasons. Thanks to its central location on the A57 and A44 and close to the A40, Krefeld is an excellent starting point for long-distance moves. To our location on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit it is around 577 road kilometres, mostly via the A2; by lorry we allow about eight and a half hours including a break.
For long-distance moves we calculate transparently from €4.25 per kilometre, depending on the volume, floors and additional services you want. If you only want to transport a few pieces of furniture, you benefit from our part load – an affordable alternative to a complete removal van.
We also handle moves to neighbouring cities; these destinations have their own location pages:
- Düsseldorf – state capital on the Rhine
- Duisburg – to the north on the Rhine
- Essen and Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr area
- Bochum and Dortmund further east
- Bonn and Hagen in the south of NRW
Whether moving to Bielefeld or to another state capital – we plan the route, breaks and arrival window in advance and set them out in the quote.

Office and company moves in Krefeld: Uerdingen, Fichtenhain, city centre
Krefeld is known not only for its textile history but also as an important business location with companies from chemicals, mechanical engineering and logistics. The Chempark in Krefeld-Uerdingen and numerous medium-sized businesses in business parks such as Oppum, Fichtenhain or at the port create demand for company moves in the region.
Our company move service is tailored specifically to the requirements of offices, practices, law firms and production sites. We plan the move so that operations are affected as little as possible – often in the evening or at the weekend to minimise downtime.
Our services for company moves in Krefeld include:
- Dismantling and assembly of office furniture, server cabinets and file shelving
- Safe transport of IT equipment and sensitive documents
- Coordination with property managers in commercial properties, for example in Fichtenhain
- Setting up parking restriction zones on busy commercial streets
- Labelling and inventory for structured reassembly
Especially in industrial areas near the Rhine port or in Krefeld city centre with its office complexes, precise logistics planning is crucial. We take tight delivery zones, lift capacity and access restrictions for lorries into account at the quoting stage. On request we also dispose of old office furniture as part of a clearance. Whether a small start-up in the city centre or a manufacturing company in Uerdingen – we ensure a smooth transition to the new location without your day-to-day business standing still for long.
Student moves to the Hochschule Niederrhein & booking
Krefeld has been home to the Hochschule Niederrhein since 1971 and is therefore also a place of study. At the start of the semester, students move into rooms in shared flats or small flats, often in neighbourhoods such as the city centre, Bockum or around the Ostwall.
Our student move service is geared to small budgets and usually modest volumes. We offer flexible dates, including at short notice, and fair fixed prices based on the actual volume – ideal for moving from the family home into your first own room in Krefeld.
The booking process at Praktik Transport und Umzüge could hardly be simpler:
- Send an enquiry: by phone, email or online form with rough details on flat size and destination
- Free survey: on site in Krefeld or by video call for an accurate assessment
- Fixed-price quote: transparent and without hidden costs, including all agreed additional services
- Date confirmation: agreeing a suitable moving date, weekends also possible
- Execution: professional packing, transport and assembly at the new home
For students we recommend booking early around the start of the semester, as dates around the university are then in demand and, according to the city, the no-stopping zone needs 15 days' processing. On request we also dispose of old furniture through a clearance or plan a parking restriction zone outside the hall of residence. That way the start of student life in Krefeld works without stress.
