Key answers for your move in Celle
Because of narrow lanes and listed half-timbered houses, we plan moves in the old town particularly carefully, often with a parking restriction zone and, if necessary, a furniture lift for narrow staircases.
Moving in Celle: the process in the half-timbered town on the Aller
A move in Celle differs markedly from a move in a big city. The town on the Aller, with around 67,000 inhabitants, is regarded as the southern gateway to the Lüneburg Heath; its old town has over 400 half-timbered houses that survived the Second World War undamaged, above all on Schuhstraße, Zöllnerstraße and Neue Straße. Around the Großer Plan, Celle Castle and the Stechbahn, narrow access roads and old staircases make every move a task that demands staff and equipment.
Our business is not based in Celle but at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; for the move, the team travels out with the lorry. In the old town a furniture lift can be the practical solution for getting bulky items through the narrow staircases of old houses. For delicate instruments there is our piano transport, which we also plan carefully in historic buildings.
The process begins with a free survey by video or by arrangement, in which we check access, the parking situation and possible restrictions in the old town. We then draw up a transparent offer covering all services from packing to furniture assembly. Our private move covers small flat moves within the old town as well as larger moves to the residential areas on the edge of town.
Important roads are the B3 to Hanover and towards Hamburg, the B214 towards Braunschweig and Nienburg, and the B191 towards Uelzen; you reach the A7 via the Mellendorf junction or the Allertal service area. Hanover is around 40 kilometres away, and many commuters travel between the two cities. It is around 275 road kilometres to our base in Berlin – so the journey and schedule are part of the offer from the start.
Districts and residential areas in Celle at a glance
Celle is divided into several districts of very different character, which has a direct effect on how a move proceeds. The old town, with its narrow lanes and listed half-timbered houses, requires particular skill when it comes to access, while districts such as Wietzenbruch or Groß Hehlen, with wider streets and detached houses, are much easier to reach.
The Neustadt and Hehlentor are popular with young families and commuters, as both apartment buildings and denser housing with good connections to the town centre can be found here. Blumlage, one of the old districts just outside the old town, scores with quiet residential areas and short distances to the centre, which makes many moves within this area predictable and efficient.
Klein Hehlen and Vorwerk are among Celle's greener residential areas, with many one- and two-family houses. Moves here usually come with more room for stopping areas and larger removal vans, which often speeds up the process. Wietzenbruch in the south-west of the town, on the edge of the Celle army airfield, offers residential areas with detached houses and blocks of flats.
| District | Character | Moving feature |
|---|---|---|
| Old town | Historic, half-timbered | Narrow access, listed buildings |
| Neustadt | Central, densely built | Good connections, limited parking |
| Blumlage | Quiet, close to the old town | Short distances to the centre |
| Klein/Groß Hehlen | Green, detached houses | Plenty of space, easy access |
| Wietzenbruch | By the army airfield | Check access for each address |
Whatever district your new home is in – our team from Berlin-Moabit plans every move in Celle individually according to the access, floor and loading space at your address.
Moving costs in Celle: prices & cost factors
The moving costs in Celle depend on several factors: the size of the flat, distance, accessibility and the additional services required. As a moving company from Berlin, we calculate transparently and without hidden costs, so that you know from the start what to expect.
A key cost factor is how easy the flat is to reach. In the old town, with its narrow lanes and limited parking, a parking restriction zone may be necessary so that the removal van can be loaded and unloaded safely and without losing time. In districts such as Groß Hehlen or Wietzenbruch, with enough space in front of the house, this extra effort is usually not needed.
| Flat size | Price from | Typical services |
|---|---|---|
| 1-room flat | from €349 | Transport, basic packing |
| 2-room flat | from €609 | Transport, packing, assembly |
| 3-room flat | from €894 | Full service incl. kitchen assembly |
| Long-distance move | from €3.90/km | Transport throughout Germany |
In addition to flat size and distance, special requests also play a role: a piano transport or accompanying clearance of old furniture before the move are calculated separately but can easily be integrated into an overall package. The floor also matters – moves in the historic houses of the old town with narrow staircases may be more involved if a furniture lift is used, but they remain predictable.
We recommend a free survey by video or by arrangement to every customer in Celle, so that individual circumstances – such as the parking situation, floor or special pieces of furniture – can be assessed realistically and a tailored, fair offer can be drawn up.
Parking restriction zone in Celle: old town, Neustadt and station
Especially in Celle's historic old town, around the Großer Plan, Zöllnerstraße or Bergstraße, parking space for removal vans is often scarce. Narrow lanes, listed façades and visitor traffic in the old town make forward planning essential. That is why we plan a parking restriction zone for moves in Celle where needed.
A parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone) ensures that space directly in front of the door is free on moving day – without blocked streets and a long search for parking. The permit is issued by the city of Celle, road traffic department; the application is available online or as a PDF. The signs may only be put up after approval; according to the city, they can be hired from traffic engineering companies or haulage firms.
- Application to the city of Celle, road traffic department
- Put up signs only after approval and in good time before the move
- According to our price list, €30–100 per day depending on zone and duration
- Particularly advisable in the old town, the Neustadt and near the station
- Shortens loading times and reduces transport risks
A parking restriction zone pays off especially in tight areas such as the old town or around Celle station: the removal van stands close to the door, distances become shorter and the risk of scratches on furniture from long carrying distances falls. In areas with residents' parking, too, approval from the city is needed to avoid fines.
Which details the application needs and which deadlines the city gives for the signs are set out below in the section on the application. We match the date and loading times to the approved zone.
From Celle to Hanover, Braunschweig or Berlin
Celle is connected to Hanover and Hamburg via the B3, to Braunschweig via the B214 and to Uelzen via the B191. The A7 motorway lies west of the town and can be reached via the Mellendorf junction or the Allertal service area. From there you head north to Hamburg or south via Hanover and Kassel.
With us, a move from Celle begins with a precise route calculation. Our price list states from €3.90 per kilometre for long distances; the fixed price after a survey is binding. It is around 40 kilometres to Hanover and around 55 kilometres to Braunschweig; we also plan moves to Wolfsburg with you.
We also handle moves to other destinations in Lower Saxony such as Hildesheim, Göttingen, Salzgitter, Osnabrück or Oldenburg. It is around 275 road kilometres to our base on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit – we plan moves between Celle and Berlin in both directions.
For smaller volumes that do not fill a whole removal van, we also offer an affordable part load. Your goods are transported together with other consignments, which saves noticeable costs if you have little furniture. Whether a complete move or a partial load – we plan every route from Celle so that your household goods arrive safely, on time and at a fair price.

In addition to classic transport services, we offer a packing service, furniture assembly and, on request, storage of your goods. Office and company moves in Celle
Celle is known not only for its historic old town but also as a business and judicial centre: it is home to oil and gas technology companies such as Baker Hughes, as well as the Higher Regional Court of Celle and the Lower Saxony State Stud. For offices, practices and businesses we offer our office move service.
An office move in Celle has particular requirements: IT infrastructure must be safely dismantled, transported and promptly reassembled at the new location so that business operations continue as seamlessly as possible. We therefore usually plan office moves outside regular business hours or at the weekend to minimise downtime for your company.
- Dismantling and reassembly of office furniture and workstations
- Safe transport of IT equipment and server technology
- Labelling system for quick retrieval at the new location
- Coordination with landlords and property managers in Celle
- Flexible scheduling incl. weekend dates
Many office spaces in Celle are in listed buildings in the town centre or in modern commercial areas on the outskirts, for example near the B3 federal road or towards Vorwerk. Both scenarios require different approaches: in the old town, narrow access roads and limited stopping areas must be taken into account, while commercial areas usually offer more generous docking options for lorries.
For companies opening branches in surrounding cities such as Hanover or Braunschweig as part of an expansion or restructuring, we also coordinate supra-regional office moves reliably from a single source. We also help with closing old sites through our clearance service, so that old stock is disposed of properly and in an environmentally sound way. This way we handle the entire process from packing to handing over the old premises – structured, on schedule and with minimal interruption to your day-to-day business.
Student moves in Celle & how booking works
Celle is not a classic university town, yet many students commute between Celle and the university locations of Hanover or Braunschweig, both of which are within easy reach. For this group we offer a special student move, tailored to smaller flats, rooms in shared flats and a limited budget.
A student move in Celle usually involves a manageable amount of furniture and flexible date requests. We therefore offer affordable fixed prices and also look into short-notice dates – ideal for a change of semester or a spontaneous change of room within the town or towards Hanover.
The booking process with us is deliberately kept simple:
- Non-binding enquiry by phone, email or online form
- Free survey or assessment based on photos
- Transparent fixed-price offer without hidden costs
- Confirmation of the date and planning of the parking restriction zone if needed
- Carrying out the move with our team from Berlin
- Handover and final check at the new home
For students who only need to move a few items of furniture, our part load is often recommended, where the goods are carried together with other consignments – a particularly cost-effective solution for small moves within Lower Saxony.
Whether a move within Celle, for example from the old town to a flat-share near the Neustadt, or moving away to another city in Lower Saxony to start your studies – we ensure a stress-free process. Contact us early, especially at the busy moving times around the start of semester in October and April, to secure your preferred date.
Applying for a parking restriction in Celle: application, required details and signs
For a moving parking restriction in Celle, the city provides the “Antrag auf Genehmigung eines Haltverbotes” (application for approval of a parking restriction) on its service portal. You can fill it in online or download it as a PDF. The city of Celle's road traffic department is responsible and can be reached by phone on 05141 123242. The legal basis is §§ 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulations (Straßenverkehrsordnung).
According to the service portal, the application requires, among other things:
- first name and surname, as well as old and new address
- purpose and period of the parking restriction
- the area as precisely as possible with street and house number, ideally with a sketch
- the length of the zone, which is usually based on the removal vehicle
Signs may only be put up after approval. The city states three to four days before the moving date for this, depending on where the application is submitted; the parking restriction only takes effect if the signs are in place three days beforehand. Fees are charged for the order and for the signs, which the portal mentions without an amount. The signs can be hired from traffic engineering companies or haulage firms. How we coordinate this with our team is described on the parking restriction zone page; background on planning can be found in the moving guide for Celle. The portal gives no deadline for the application itself, so you should submit it early and state your preferred date for putting up the signs at the same time.
Celle: old-town access, re-registration at the citizens' office and bulky waste after the move
Celle's old town is characterised by listed half-timbered houses, and its pedestrian zone is only open to delivery traffic within a set time window. Council documents of the city of Celle show that this rule exists; we therefore clarify with the traffic authority which window currently applies before a move in the town centre. If access is narrow, allow for longer carrying routes and discuss this with us in the offer.
According to the city of Celle, you must register within two weeks of moving in (Bundesmeldegesetz). Since 5 May 2025 there has been the online service “Elektronische Wohnsitzanmeldung”; for this you need an ID card with the online ID function activated, a BundID account and the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung). It only applies to a sole or main residence. Registering a secondary residence requires an appointment at the citizens' office (Bürgerbüro), which is allocated online via termin.celle.de (phone 05141 12 33 00). Registration is free of charge. Bring your ID card: according to the city of Celle, if your address has changed, it must also be changed on your ID card, usually directly at the registration appointment.
The Zweckverband Abfallwirtschaft Celle is responsible for bulky waste (Braunschweiger Heerstraße 109, phone 05141 7502-222). You can register bulky waste online on the service portal of the Celle district. Our guide for newcomers to Celle describes what life in the town is like after the move.
