Moves in the trade fair city of Leipzig, travelling from Berlin

Fixed price upfront

Unsere Firma handles moves in Leipzig from Berlin-Moabit and plans access, the parking restriction and loading time before the appointment.
Our company is based at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; we have no branch in Leipzig. For a private move, office move or furniture transport, the team drives around 188 kilometres via the A9 – to the Waldstraßenviertel just as to Connewitz.
After a video survey or by arrangement, you receive a fixed price for Leipzig. You can add a packing service, small transport or part-load transport as needed. The city needs processing time for a parking restriction; details are in the section on parking restrictions – which is why an early enquiry pays off.

Questions on parking restrictions, period buildings and re-registration in Leipzig

Key answers for your move in Leipzig

Answers on booking, the parking restriction, period buildings, distances and re-registration in Leipzig – the information on deadlines and fees comes from the City of Leipzig, the prices from our price list.

We recommend booking a move in Leipzig at least 2–3 weeks in advance, especially at the change of semester or the end of the month, when demand is high. The application for a parking restriction zone should also be made early.

How a move works in the trade fair city

Leipzig is one of Germany's fastest-growing cities – and you notice this with every move. Whether a Gründerzeit building in the Südvorstadt, a new-build flat in Leipzig-Lindenau or a period building with high ceilings in Gohlis: the variety of housing in the trade fair city places its own demands on every move in Leipzig. Narrow spiral staircases in renovated Gründerzeit villas, narrow hallways in the Waldstraßenviertel or the blocks of flats on the large Paunsdorf estate – we ask about these structural features in detail before the date.

A typical move in Leipzig begins with a free survey by video or by arrangement, followed by a transparent fixed-price quote. We then organise the process: from clarifying the parking restriction zone and professional packing to assembling furniture in the new flat. Especially in densely built neighbourhoods such as Connewitz or Plagwitz, good advance planning is crucial, as parking is scarce and some streets are narrow.

Leipzig is also a city of short distances: most moves within the city – for example from Schleußig to Reudnitz or from Möckern to Zentrum-Süd – can be completed in one day. It is important to take into account Leipzig's tram network, which crosses many residential streets and has to be factored into route planning for the removal van.

Our private moves in Leipzig include:

  • Free survey by video or by arrangement
  • Professional dismantling and assembly of furniture
  • Packing household goods with quality materials
  • The team travels from Berlin and handles transport
  • Clarifying whether a parking restriction zone is needed

That way your move in Leipzig – whether within a neighbourhood or beyond the city limits – runs smoothly and without stress.

Ten districts, 63 neighbourhoods: residential areas in Leipzig

Leipzig is divided into ten districts with 63 neighbourhoods – so for a move in Leipzig the exact location matters. In the Waldstraßenviertel and Gohlis there are many renovated Gründerzeit houses with stucco façades, often with narrow stairwells and no lift. In Connewitz and Plagwitz, period flats meet converted factory buildings and lofts along the Karl-Heine-Kanal.

Schleußig lies by the floodplain forest and the Weiße Elster, with quiet residential streets, while the Südvorstadt is popular with students. Those who want to live more centrally move to the Zentrum or Reudnitz-Thonberg.

On the edge of the city are Grünau and Paunsdorf, both large GDR-era estates with prefabricated buildings. Access for the removal van is usually easier there and there is more parking. In the north of Leipzig are Eutritzsch and Möckern, with mixed buildings.

For planning, this means:

  • Clarify the approach and parking space for each neighbourhood in advance
  • Calculate period buildings, new builds and prefab buildings differently
  • Raise narrow access in the city centre during the survey
  • Apply for a parking restriction in good time where parking is scarce

Whether moving within Leipzig or arriving from another region – we ask about the location in advance and plan every move accordingly.

Moving costs in Leipzig: transparent prices

Moving costs in Leipzig depend on several factors: flat size, floor, distance and the additional services required, such as a parking restriction zone or packing service. So that you can calculate in advance, we give you the guide prices from our price list for Leipzig.

Flat sizePrice fromExample location
1-room flat€339Südvorstadt, Zentrum-Ost
2-room flat€589Gohlis, Connewitz
3-room flat€894Plagwitz, Schleußig
Long-distance move (per km)from €3.85e.g. to Dresden or Berlin

These prices are a guide for a standard move in Leipzig without particular difficulties. Factors that can affect the price include:

  • The floor and whether there is a lift
  • The distance between the old and new flat
  • Additional services such as clearance or piano transport
  • The need for a parking restriction zone
  • The timing of the move (weekend, end of the month)

Especially in Leipzig city centre and in sought-after neighbourhoods such as the Waldstraßenviertel, parking can be limited, which requires additional logistics. For students we also offer dedicated student moves on reduced terms. On request we will prepare an individual, free fixed-price quote that takes into account all the details of your move in Leipzig – transparent and with no hidden costs.

Parking restriction and parking in the Südvorstadt, Plagwitz and Zentrum

A frequently underestimated factor in a move in Leipzig is the parking situation. In densely built neighbourhoods such as the Südvorstadt, the Zentrum or around the Karl-Heine-Kanal in Plagwitz, there is rarely space outside the front door. A parking restriction zone keeps the space free for the removal van and for loading and unloading. In Leipzig it requires a traffic order from the temporary traffic regulation section; the signs are put up by you or a company you commission.

This saves time and long distances through narrow Gründerzeit stairwells. For a parking restriction zone our price list gives €30 to €100 per day, depending on location and duration.

You should plan for these steps:

  • Apply in good time – the city's processing time is given in the section on parking restrictions further down
  • Put up the signs before the date within the deadline
  • Document parked vehicles when putting up the signs
  • Raise special cases such as one-way streets in Connewitz or narrow streets in Gohlis early

In the Waldstraßenviertel, where historic buildings meet little parking, or near the main station with heavy traffic, you should apply particularly early. In Grünau or Paunsdorf the parking situation is usually more relaxed; we still check every address individually. If you are moving between two districts, each address needs its own traffic order – it is best to submit both applications at the same time.

More on this on our parking restriction zone page.

From Leipzig to Dresden, Chemnitz or Berlin

Leipzig lies between the A9, A14 and A38, making it a good starting point for a move from Leipzig – within Saxony or across Germany.

Via the A14 you reach Dresden after around 113 road kilometres, while Chemnitz is about 85 kilometres away. The A72 connects Leipzig with Chemnitz, Zwickau and Plauen in the Vogtland. Görlitz on the Polish border is reached via the A14 and A4, and we also plan Freiberg as a destination.

It is around 188 kilometres via the A9 to our base on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit – we plan moves in both directions. For long-distance moves our price list gives from €3.85 per kilometre; the binding figure is the fixed price after a survey.

For smaller quantities or single pieces of furniture there is cheaper part-load transport – useful when you do not need to move all your household goods. For your move from Leipzig we offer:

  • Complete moves at a fixed price after a survey
  • Part-load transport for smaller quantities
  • Moves in both directions, including to Berlin
  • Route planning via the A9, A14, A38 or A72

That way your move from Leipzig becomes predictable – however long the route.

From private moves to clearance in Leipzig

As a moving company from Berlin, we offer a full range of services for Leipzig, matched to the residential areas of the trade fair city. From a small student flat in the Südvorstadt to a large office complex in the centre – we cover every moving need.

Our private move is the basis of our offer and includes complete organisation of packing, transport and furniture assembly. For companies we offer a professional office move with minimal downtime – important for Leipzig's dynamic economy. If only part of the household needs to be moved, our part-load transport is a cost-saving alternative.

If you want to declutter before the move or need to clear a flat, our clearance service is a reliable partner – particularly in demand for household clearances in period buildings in Gohlis or Reudnitz. For valuable instruments we offer piano transport with suitable securing.

Older Leipzig residents planning a move to a smaller flat or into assisted living benefit from our sensitive senior move. Students at Leipzig University or HTWK often use our affordable student move. And so that there is enough space for loading and unloading on moving day, we take care of the parking restriction zone on request.

  • Private moves for flats of any size
  • Office moves, outside business hours on request
  • Part-load transport for small quantities
  • Clearance and household dissolutions
  • Piano transport with our own securing
  • Senior moves with personal support
  • Student moves at fair prices
  • Organising parking restriction zones

That way you get all moving services in Leipzig from a single source – reliable, with personal support and travelling from Berlin.

Office moves between the Zentrum, the trade fair and Plagwitz

In recent years Leipzig has developed into an important business location in eastern Germany – with sectors such as car manufacturing, logistics, retail and a growing service sector. Whether an office in the centre, commercial premises on the edge of the city or a start-up in a converted factory in Plagwitz – an office move in Leipzig requires precise planning so that business continues as smoothly as possible.

Our office move service is aimed at companies of any size – from a small office in the city centre to a medium-sized business on industrial estates such as Paunsdorf or Plagwitz. We plan the move so that IT infrastructure, file archives and workstations are quickly up and running again.

Our services for office moves in Leipzig include:

  • Dismantling and assembling office furniture and workstations
  • Safe transport of IT equipment and servers
  • Labelling system for quick reassembly
  • Moves outside business hours or at the weekend
  • Organising parking restriction zones at busy locations

Especially in the city centre, around the main station or near the Leipzig trade fair grounds, good coordination with property managers and the public order office is crucial to make the best use of access routes and goods lifts. For companies expanding or moving to Chemnitz, Dresden or other Saxon cities, we also plan the move from a single source, at a fixed price after a survey.

With clear planning we make sure your company manages the change of location in Leipzig with minimal disruption to day-to-day business.

Student moves in Leipzig & easy booking

With Leipzig University, HTWK and other universities, the city is a major place of study with many students who often move at the change of semester – whether into a first flat-share room in the Südvorstadt, a student flat in Connewitz or back to their home town after their studies. Our student move is tailored specifically to this group: uncomplicated, quick and budget-conscious.

Typical student moves in Leipzig involve smaller flats or flat-share rooms, often in neighbourhoods with narrow stairwells such as the Südvorstadt or Zentrum-Süd. We therefore offer flexible dates, including at short notice at the change of semester, and a reduced rate for students.

Booking a move with us in Leipzig – whether a student move, private move or office move – could not be simpler:

  • Get in touch by phone, email or online form
  • Free survey by video or by arrangement
  • Individual fixed-price quote with no hidden costs
  • Arranging a date – short notice also possible
  • The move carried out by our team from Berlin

For students who only need to move a few pieces of furniture, our part-load transport is often worthwhile as a particularly affordable option. If you also want to dispose of old furniture or bulky waste, you can book our clearance at the same time.

Whether moving within Leipzig, for example from Gohlis to the Südvorstadt, or moving away after your studies to another Saxon city such as Dresden or Chemnitz – we support you from the first enquiry to the last moving box. Contact us today for a non-binding quote for your student move in Leipzig.

Parking restriction for a move in Leipzig: application to the temporary traffic regulation section

If you need space on the public road in Leipzig for loading or unloading, according to the City of Leipzig you need a permit from the „Temporäre Verkehrsregelung“ (temporary traffic regulation) section. You can submit the signed application by post, email or fax. The processing time is approx. 14 official working days, and the administrative fee for the order starts at 32 euros.

The order issued is the permission to put up traffic signs. The authority does not put them up itself; that is done by you or a company you commission. The no-parking signs must be in place no later than four days before the date. When putting them up, you record the vehicles parked in the area, for which the city provides its own documentation form. Blocking the space with chairs, crates or buckets is not allowed.

If cars are still parked in the zone, you can contact the public order office's operations centre via the public order telephone line. According to the city, there is no legal entitlement to having the zone cleared. Contact: Construction Site Management and Road Maintenance, Technisches Rathaus, Prager Straße 118-120, email [email protected]. The office is open on Tuesdays from 1 pm to 3 pm and on Fridays from 9 am to 11 am, and you can reach it by phone via 115.

You can find more about our service under parking restriction zone. Background information is in our Leipzig guide, and you can see locations in the surrounding area under Saxony.

Leipzig: districts and neighbourhoods from Plagwitz to Gohlis

Leipzig is divided into ten districts: Mitte, Nordost, Ost, Südost, Süd, Südwest, West, Alt-West, Nordwest and Nord. According to the city's Leipzig information system, they comprise 63 neighbourhoods (Ortsteile). Plagwitz and Schleußig are in the Südwest district, Connewitz and the Südvorstadt in Süd, Lindenau and Leutzsch in Alt-West, and Gohlis and Eutritzsch in Nord.

For your planning this means: moving out and moving in may be in different districts, and each address then needs its own traffic order. Submit both applications at the same time so that the processing time of about 14 official working days does not become a scheduling trap.

After the move, you re-register your address at the citizens' office (Bürgerbüro). For a move within Leipzig, according to the city, the Central Vehicle Register must also be corrected without delay so that you receive a new registration certificate Part I. This can be done via internet-based vehicle registration (i-Kfz), by submitting documents or together with re-registration at the citizens' office. For i-Kfz, private individuals need a BundID account with the online ID function activated and a valid main inspection report.

If you are new to the city, you will find tips for settling in in the guide for newcomers. For moves from the neighbouring area, Halle (Saale) is also a frequent starting point; the complete process is described under private move.

Always one step ahead.
