Hanau on the Main: moving with a team travelling from Berlin

Fixed price in advance

Unsere Firma travels from Berlin-Moabit for moves in Hanau and clarifies the parking ban, parking space and loading time before the date.
Our base is Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; we have no branch in Hanau. For a private move, office move or furniture transport the team travels by lorry – to the city centre as well as to Steinheim, Kesselstadt or Großauheim.
After the survey you receive a fixed price in Hanau. Packing service, part loads or a furniture taxi are only added if needed. Important for planning: in Hanau the applicant puts up the parking ban signs themselves.

Quotes are subject to availability; dates and services are agreed individually.

Questions about parking bans and moving in Hanau

Everything important about moving in Hanau

Here you will find answers about costs, parking bans, districts, student moves and registration for your move in Hanau – with the city's rules for stress-free preparation.

A move within Hanau depends on flat size and effort. Guide prices are: 1-room flat from €344, 2-room flat from €605 and 3-room flat from €889. Narrow access in the Altstadt or missing lifts can slightly affect the price, which we show transparently in the quote.

Moving in Hanau: process and special features on the Main

A move in Hanau has a few special features. The Brothers Grimm city lies on the Main at the entrance to the Kinzig valley and is an independent city in the Darmstadt administrative region – the sixth-largest city in Hesse by population. The city centre, made up of the Altstadt and Neustadt, was rebuilt in a much-changed form after the air raids of 1944/45; narrow half-timbered village centres, by contrast, can be found in districts such as Steinheim and Kesselstadt. Both affect access and parking space.

Our process is geared to this: after a free survey – by video or on site – we prepare a fixed-price quote that takes into account access, floor, lift and the volume of your household goods. We then take care of packing, dismantling, transport and reassembly from a single source. Our team travels from Berlin-Moabit (Stromstraße 21) for this.

The A66 and the A45 run through Hanau and are connected at the Hanauer Kreuz; the A3 has a Hanau junction near Obertshausen. This makes the journey easier, whether the move takes place within the city, into the region or as a part load from another region. The main station has ICE connections, and many households commute to Frankfurt.

Whether a private move, senior move or piano transport – we adapt the vehicle and team to the address after the survey.

Ten districts: residential areas in Hanau

Hanau is divided into ten districts, which bring very different conditions for a move. We therefore clarify access, parking space and floor for every address during the survey.

  • City centre (Altstadt and Neustadt): rebuilt after 1945, heavy traffic around Freiheitsplatz and Marktplatz – a parking restriction zone often makes sense here.
  • Kesselstadt: around 11,600 residents, a half-timbered centre and Philippsruhe Palace on the Main.
  • Großauheim: according to the city the largest district on the Main, with a village centre around St. James's Church (Jakobuskirche) and many half-timbered houses.
  • Steinheim and Klein-Auheim: on the left bank of the Main; Steinheim is the south-westernmost district with a half-timbered old town.
  • Wolfgang: the largest district by area, formerly a site of the US garrison in Hanau.
  • Lamboy, Nordwest and Südost: densely populated districts, each with over 10,000 residents.
  • Mittelbuchen: the smallest district by population, just over 4,000 people.

Anyone moving from a flat in Kesselstadt to a terraced house in Großauheim needs different planning from a company moving to the city centre. Because our team travels from Berlin, please give us the exact address when you enquire; we then check parking rules, residents' zones and possible parking spaces in advance and avoid waiting times on moving day. For students and young professionals who want to live close to the centre, we also offer an affordable student move.

Moving costs in Hanau: transparent prices for your move

Moving costs in Hanau depend on several factors: flat size, floor, whether there is a lift, the distance between the old and new address and the additional services you require, such as packing service or furniture assembly. As a transparent moving company, we calculate fair fixed prices with no hidden costs.

ServicePrice
Moving a 1-room flatfrom €344
Moving a 2-room flatfrom €605
Moving a 3-room flatfrom €889
Long-distance move (per km)from €4.10/km
Parking restriction zone (per day)€30–100

These guide prices apply to moves within Hanau and the immediate surrounding area, for example between Kesselstadt and Steinheim or from the city centre to Großauheim. For moves with narrow access in the Altstadt or without a lift in multi-storey older buildings, the effort can increase – we always point this out transparently in the quote.

Additional services such as a house clearance before moving out, a part load for smaller volumes or piano transport are calculated separately and just as transparently. You can also add packing material, the parking restriction zone application and final cleaning as needed. For students and smaller moves we also offer particularly affordable packages based on the actual volume – so you never pay more than your move actually costs. You can get a free, non-binding quote by phone or via our online form.

Parking bans in Hanau: put up the signs yourself, 72-hour deadline

Especially in Hanau city centre around Freiheitsplatz and Marktplatz, parking is often scarce on moving day. Without a designated parking restriction zone, the removal van has to park far away, and long carrying distances delay the move and make it more expensive.

In Hanau you apply for the parking restriction zone to the public order office's road traffic authority – using a form or via the city's online service. According to the application form, the municipal fee is €20 for the first day and €5 for each additional day. Unlike in some cities, the applicant is responsible for obtaining, putting up and removing the signs; our price list states €30 to €100 per day for a parking restriction zone. The signs must be in place at least 72 hours before the move, not counting the day they are put up.

In districts such as Großauheim, Klein-Auheim or Steinheim with their own plots and driveways, the parking situation is often more relaxed; there too we check access in advance.

  • Application to the public order office or online
  • Put up the signs with an additional sign showing the start
  • Document the set-up with date and time
  • Keep an evidence list with the registration numbers of parked vehicles

You can find more about this service on our parking restriction zone page. This keeps carrying distances short and your furniture protected.

From Hanau to Frankfurt, Kassel – or Berlin

The A66 (towards Frankfurt and Fulda) and the A45 (Sauerlandlinie) run through Hanau, plus the Hanau junction of the A3. This means the city is well connected to the trunk road network. From Hanau to our base on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit it is around 544 road kilometres; for long-distance moves our price list states from €4.10 per kilometre, and the fixed price after a survey is binding.

We also handle moves within Hesse, for example to:

For moves to neighbouring towns, for example to Frankfurt am Main or Offenbach am Main, the distances are short; because our team travels from Berlin, we set the date with some lead time. For moves from Hanau to Berlin or to other federal states, we plan the route, breaks and arrival window in advance. For smaller volumes, a part load over long distances is a sensible alternative.

Services for your move in Hanau

For moves in Hanau and the surrounding area, as a Berlin moving company we offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to each moving situation. From a small student flat in Kesselstadt to a large detached house in Großauheim – we have the right solution for every requirement.

  • Private move: complete moving service including packing, transport and furniture assembly
  • Business relocation: moves of offices, practices and commercial premises with minimal downtime
  • Part load: low-cost transport of smaller volumes combined with other moves
  • House clearance: professional clearing of flats, cellars and attics
  • Parking restriction zone: application and set-up for a smooth moving day
  • Piano transport: safe transport of upright and grand pianos with our own securing equipment
  • Senior move: sensitive support when moving to age-appropriate housing
  • Student move: quick, low-cost moves for students in Hanau

The residential areas range from the half-timbered village centres in Steinheim and the residential blocks in Nordwest to the terraced houses in Klein-Auheim; we clarify them during the survey. We bring packing material, protect floors and stairwells and set out the vehicle and team in the quote. This way we plan a smooth process, whether it is a small individual move or a complex company move with several teams.

Office and company moves in Hanau

Hanau is an important industrial and technology location: companies such as Heraeus, Umicore, Vacuumschmelze and the Dunlop tyre works are based here. There are also numerous medium-sized businesses, law firms and practices in the city centre and the districts.

A company move in Hanau places special demands: IT infrastructure, server rooms, file archives and sensitive documents must be transported safely and without a long interruption to business. We therefore usually plan the move outside regular business hours or at the weekend and coordinate the process closely with your management.

  • Dismantling and assembly of office furniture and filing cabinets
  • Safe transport of IT equipment and servers
  • Labelling system for structured reassembly
  • Applying for parking restriction zones for lorries and delivery vehicles
  • Scheduling with minimal downtime for your business operations

Because of their proximity to Frankfurt am Main, companies from Hanau also move supra-regionally or open additional sites in the Rhine-Main region. We handle both local business relocations within Hanau and supra-regional moves, for example to Frankfurt or Offenbach. On request we also take care of the clearance of old office space and the proper disposal of discarded furniture. For advice and a non-binding quote you can reach us by phone or online; for short-notice dates we tell you openly whether the journey from Berlin will work out in time.

Student moves in Hanau & how booking works

With the State Drawing Academy (Staatliche Zeichenakademie), the Brüder Grimm Berufsakademie and other educational institutions, young people come to Hanau for training, while others commute or move to the nearby university cities of Frankfurt am Main or Gießen for their studies. We offer a student move specially tailored to this group, with fair fixed prices and flexible dates, including at short notice at the start of the semester.

Typical student moves in Hanau involve small flats in Kesselstadt, rooms in shared flats near the main station or studios in the city centre. As these moves are usually modest in volume, we calculate particularly affordable prices and, on request, also offer a simple part load if only a few pieces of furniture need to be transported.

The booking process with us is deliberately kept simple:

  • Free enquiry by phone, email or online form
  • Non-binding survey on site or by video call
  • Transparent fixed-price quote with no hidden costs
  • Confirmation of the date and clarification of access, parking or parking restriction zone
  • The move carried out by our team from Berlin
  • Handover report and final check in the new flat

For international students, who often have to organise without their own vehicle and with little time, we also take care of the complete packing and final cleaning of the old flat on request. Graduates who stay in Hanau after their studies and move to a larger flat also benefit from our private move service. Simply contact us – you will receive a fixed-price quote for your moving date in Hanau.

Parking bans for moves in Hanau: road traffic authority, online service and fee

In Hanau you apply for a parking ban for a move to the public order office's road traffic authority (Ordnungsamt, Straßenverkehrsbehörde) (Steinheimer Straße 1b, 63450 Hanau, telephone 06181 2950-2113, email [email protected]). Alternatively, according to the form, the city offers an online service at halteverbot.hanau.de. The basis is the order for mobile signs under § 45(1) StVO in conjunction with an exemption permit under § 46(1) StVO.

The city's application form states the fee: €20 for the first day, €5 extra for each additional day. As the applicant, you are responsible for obtaining, putting up and removing the signs yourself; signs are available from traffic safety companies or from the municipal depot (Hanau Infrastruktur Service).

The city also sets out clear rules for putting up the signs: they must be in place at least 72 hours before the event (the day they are put up does not count) and show the start of the restriction with an additional sign. For lengths of 30 metres or more, sign 283-30 is also required, the remaining carriageway width must be at least 3.05 metres, and existing parking signs must be made ineffective. The set-up must be documented with date and time, and an evidence list must be kept with the registration numbers of the vehicles previously parked there.

Our base is Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit, from where we drive to your address in Hanau. Further information on the parking restriction zone and on moves in the neighbouring area: Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach am Main.

Hanau: districts on the Main, Steinheim's old town and registration at the Stadtladen

On hanau.de the city presents the districts of Großauheim, Kesselstadt, Klein-Auheim, Mittelbuchen, Steinheim am Main and Wolfgang. According to the city, Großauheim is the largest district on the Main, with a village centre of half-timbered houses around St. James's Church. Steinheim is the south-westernmost district; its old town is known for half-timbered houses and restaurants.

Especially in historic village centres with half-timbered buildings, it is worth clarifying access and the length of the parking restriction zone precisely before moving day. Give us the address so that we can pay attention to carrying distances, stairs and parking space in the quote and survey. The same applies to newer residential quarters. According to the city, Großauheim celebrates the Rochusmarkt at the end of September, the district's best-attended street festival; for dates around this time it is worth checking the city of Hanau's traffic announcements before you set the parking ban and moving day.

For registering at your new address, the city refers newcomers to the Stadtladen (citizens' service centre) or the district service points (Stadtteilläden); appointments can be booked via the city's online appointment system. The welcome page does not state specific deadlines or documents for registration, so please check directly with the city.

Hanau lies in the Rhine-Main area, and many households commute to Frankfurt. For orientation on residential areas and costs, read our guide to moving to Hanau and the guide to living and housing in Hanau.
