Answers on the route, costs, no-parking zones, moves to Poland and re-registration in Frankfurt (Oder) – with reference to the city and customs.

From our location in Berlin-Moabit it is about 106 road kilometres via the A12, just under an hour and a half by car. For long-distance moves our price list states from €4.25/km; you receive the fixed price for your move from or to Berlin after the survey.

Oder city on the border: how we plan moves in Frankfurt (Oder)

A move in Frankfurt (Oder) involves some particularities that we clarify with you before the appointment. The city lies on the western bank of the Oder, directly on the border with Poland; the neighbouring town of Słubice emerged in 1945 from the former Dammvorstadt. Frankfurt is characterised by a mix of city centre, prefabricated housing quarters such as Neuberesinchen and neighbourhoods with detached houses. For your move we therefore ask about access, parking situation and floor for every address – around the Oderturm just as at the town bridge to Słubice.

Our location is at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit, about 106 road kilometres from Frankfurt (Oder). The team travels via the A12 motorway, just under an hour and a half by car; moves to Berlin and on to Poland use the same route. The federal roads B5 and B87 also play a role in access and logistics. We clarify one-way streets in the city centre, parking at the station and access to the pedestrian zone during the survey.

A typical private move begins with a free survey by video or by arrangement. We then plan the date, vehicle size and staff to suit your living situation – whether a period flat in the city centre, a flat in Neuberesinchen or a detached house in the south of the city. For older people we offer a senior move that focuses on calm, care and short distances.

With the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder) is also a university city; students, families and commuters move here within the city and between Germany and Poland. This location close to the border calls for flexibility with dates and routes, which we as a moving company from Berlin set down in the quote.

City centre, Neuberesinchen, outlying neighbourhoods: residential areas in Frankfurt (Oder)

Frankfurt (Oder) is divided into several districts and neighbourhoods that differ considerably in location, building stock and accessibility. This variety directly affects the effort and cost of your move, which is why we as a moving company from Berlin assess each location during the survey.

  • City centre: historic period buildings, narrow streets around the market square and the Oderturm, often limited parking – a no-parking zone is often sensible here.
  • Neuberesinchen: large residential area with prefabricated blocks and good infrastructure, usually easy access for removal vans and lifts in the buildings.
  • Süd: residential areas with multi-storey housing, access varies by street.
  • Booßen, Kliestow, Lossow, Rosengarten: rural neighbourhoods with detached houses, often longer access roads, ideal for removal vans without a no-parking zone.
  • Güldendorf and Markendorf-Siedlung: quiet residential areas on the edge of the city, popular with families, with good connections towards the A12 motorway.

We also plan moves around the European University Viadrina, especially as student moves into halls of residence or shared flats. The proximity to Słubice on the Polish side also gives many residents a particular cross-border everyday life, which we take into account when planning the move.

Whether a period flat in the city centre, a new build in Neuberesinchen or a house in the Lossow neighbourhood: we adapt vehicle, team and schedule to each residential location to make your move in Frankfurt (Oder) run smoothly.

Moving costs in Frankfurt (Oder): transparent prices

The moving costs in Frankfurt (Oder) depend on the size of the flat, floor, distance and extra services. As a moving company from Berlin, we calculate transparently and with no hidden costs so that you can plan your move well.

ServicePrice from
One-room flat€369
Two-room flat€584
Three-room flat€899
Long-distance move (per km)from €4.25/km
No-parking zone (per day)€30–100

These guide values apply to standard moves within Frankfurt (Oder), for example between the city centre and Neuberesinchen or from the old town to the south of the city. For greater distances, for example towards Berlin via the A12 or to other Brandenburg towns such as Cottbus or Potsdam, we calculate the per-kilometre price for long-distance moves fairly and comprehensibly.

Extra services such as clearance of a cellar or attic, safe piano transport or a part-load for smaller quantities also affect the final price. Commissioning a no-parking zone in front of your door in the city centre or in tight neighbourhoods such as Kliestow can also ensure a smooth process and avoid unnecessary waiting times.

We recommend a free on-site survey or a digital quote to determine your individual moving costs in Frankfurt (Oder) bindingly – so you keep full control of costs from the outset.

Loading zone around the market square and the Oderturm

Especially in the historic centre of Frankfurt (Oder), around the market square, St Mary's Church (Marienkirche) and the Oderturm, parking is scarce and streets are sometimes narrow. For a smooth moving day we therefore recommend setting up a no-parking zone directly in front of your flat early on.

We clarify during the survey whether a zone is needed; you submit the application to the city's road traffic authority in good time (details in the section on the application further below) – regardless of whether you live in the city centre, in Neuberesinchen or in one of the quieter neighbourhoods such as Booßen or Lossow. Depending on effort and duration, the costs of a no-parking zone are between €30 and €100 per day.

  • Application to the city's road traffic authority in good time
  • Signs on time according to the city's requirements
  • Avoiding parking offences and unnecessary waiting times for the removal van
  • Particularly important in narrow old-town streets and for moves with large removal vans

For commercial moves in business parks too, for example near Bahnhofstraße or in the industrial areas towards the A12 motorway, a planned no-parking zone ensures that loading zones remain free and the schedule is kept. Without such a zone, moves in narrow streets risk considerable delays due to parked vehicles or delivery traffic.

Whether close to the border with Słubice or in the winding streets of the city centre: we clarify the right parking solution during the survey so that moving day runs without unnecessary stress.

From Frankfurt (Oder) to Berlin, Poland and the rest of Germany

As a moving company from Berlin, we handle long-distance moves from Frankfurt (Oder) to all federal states, with route planning as well as loading and unloading. For smaller moving volumes, such as individual pieces of furniture or boxes, we also offer a cost-effective part-load, where your goods are transported together with other consignments.

We also handle moves to other towns within Brandenburg, for example:

No-parking zone for a move in Frankfurt (Oder): office, deadline and documents

To close off parking for a move in Frankfurt (Oder), contact the city's road traffic authority. On frankfurt-oder.de, the service is listed under the Department of General Public Order and Road Traffic Affairs in the Office for Public Order and Safety (Goepelstraße 38, Stadthaus, Haus 1, 15234 Frankfurt (Oder), telephone 0335 552-3202). A permit can be applied for if loading and unloading cannot be done in road traffic without disruption; the legal basis is § 45 (6) StVO.

The city states an application deadline of at least 14 days before the start of the move. The application should contain your name and address, the reason, the area concerned, the duration and a sketch or overview map. The fees depend on the extent of the restriction, and additional costs may arise for the traffic signs. After approval, the no-parking zone must be signposted at least three to four days before the move.

According to the page, the service cannot be applied for online. The city administration also recommends asking there whether traffic signs can be borrowed. The city's general office hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our location is Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; moves from and to Frankfurt (Oder) start there. An overview of further locations is on the Brandenburg page, and you will find the city of departure under Berlin. Our page on the no-parking zone describes our support with the closure.

Frankfurt (Oder): neighbourhoods, border location with Poland and re-registration

Frankfurt (Oder) lies directly on the border with Poland. This often raises the question of customs when moving. On zoll.de, the customs administration describes the customs exemption for household goods explicitly for moves from a non-EU country to an EU member state. Germany and Poland are both in the EU, so this non-EU rule is not the benchmark for a move between the two countries. For registration obligations, vehicles and special goods, you should get information from the relevant authorities before the appointment.

The city lists these neighbourhoods on its website: Booßen, Güldendorf, Hohenwalde, Kliestow, Lichtenberg, Lossow, Markendorf, Markendorf-Siedlung and Rosengarten/Pagram. Whether you live in a neighbourhood on the edge of the city or centrally is relevant for the journey and carrying distances, so give us the exact address.

According to the City of Frankfurt (Oder), after a move within the city a re-registration deadline of two weeks applies. You need your ID card, the documents of any family members moving with you and the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung); there are no fees. You book the appointment via the online booking of the citizens' service at Marktplatz 1.

You can find detailed information in our guide to moving to Frankfurt (Oder) and in our guide to living and housing. Further south lies Cottbus.
