In Lübeck you can apply to the Hanseatic city for a parking restriction zone for the removal van. According to the information sheet "Umziehen – leichter gemacht" (Moving made easier, as of 8 April 2025), on a corresponding application an order to set up a parking restriction zone is issued in individual cases, together with an exemption permit for loading and unloading. This also applies to areas with a limited stopping restriction, parking meters, ticket machines or parking disc rules. In traffic-calmed areas, setting up a parking restriction is not possible.

You apply online via the road traffic authority's portal (strassenverkehr.luebeck.de/de/hvz/antrag). In the form you state the period and daily times and choose a maximum length of 15, 20, 25 or 30 metres. Anyone submitting at least five applications per quarter uses the separate login for regular applicants.

Under the fee schedule for road traffic measures, the Hanseatic city lists these administrative fees:

• 1 to 3 days: €35
• from the 4th day up to one month: €150
• each further month or part thereof: an additional €50

For period buildings or narrow streets, we recommend choosing a generous length for the zone applied for, so that the van has enough room even when manoeuvring. At the survey, ask us for the length of the van we are planning to use.

The Hanseatic City of Lübeck does not provide traffic signs for a moving parking restriction. Applicants must obtain and put up the signs themselves or commission a company to do so. The deadline is crucial: the traffic signs must be in place at least three full days before the moving date, and the day on which they are put up does not count. According to the Hanseatic city, the public order office (Ordnungsamt) may only take action if this deadline has been met.
