Unsere Firma travels from Berlin-Moabit for moves in Schleswig-Holstein – via the A24, A21, A7 or A1.
Our company is based at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit; we have no branch in Schleswig-Holstein. Depending on the destination, the team drives around 274 (Lübeck) to 425 road kilometres (Flensburg). That is why we plan the arrival time, vehicle size and parking space before the date.

Moves in the north: a team from Berlin, working throughout the state

As a moving company from Berlin-Moabit, Praktik Transport und Umzüge supports private individuals and businesses with every moving project between the North Sea and Baltic coasts. Whether a move in Kiel, relocating to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck or a long-distance move from Berlin to the Danish border in Flensburg – we clarify the route, access and the rules of the city concerned in advance.

Schleswig-Holstein is characterised by a mix of lively port cities, quiet rural communities and popular holiday regions on the North Sea and Baltic. It is precisely this variety that calls for a moving company that can professionally handle both a move into a narrow terraced house in Norderstedt and the relocation of an entire office in Neumünster. We have no branch in the state; we therefore ask about the particular features of the old towns, coastal towns and rural districts such as Nordfriesland, Dithmarschen or Herzogtum Lauenburg before every appointment.

We offer you a complete service from a single source: from the free survey and professional packing to assembling the furniture in your new flat. For Berlin customers moving north for work or private reasons, we also handle the complete long-distance move to Schleswig-Holstein, including a stopover in Hamburg if desired.

Whether a private move into a new rented flat, an office move to an industrial estate or simple part-load transport for single pieces of furniture – we adapt our services to your individual needs. That way your move to Schleswig-Holstein is predictable, transparent and stress-free from the start.

Five cities and six regions for your move

Schleswig-Holstein stretches from the Danish border to the Elbe and brings together very different moving regions. The state capital Kiel on the Förde, with its university and many students, is a frequent destination, as is the World Heritage city of Lübeck with its old-town island and port. In the far north lies Flensburg on its Förde, a few kilometres from the Danish border.

Neumünster, a transport hub on the A7 and the B205 and B430 federal roads, is easy to reach. Norderstedt, the largest town in the district of Segeberg, borders directly on Hamburg and is connected by the U1 – accordingly, many commuters live there.

Besides the larger cities, we also handle moves in these regions:

  • Ostholstein with Eutin, Fehmarn and the Bay of Lübeck
  • Nordfriesland with Husum and the Eiderstedt peninsula
  • Herzogtum Lauenburg with Ratzeburg and Mölln
  • The district of Segeberg with Bad Segeberg and Kaltenkirchen
  • Rendsburg-Eckernförde along the Kiel Canal
  • The districts of Pinneberg and Stormarn around Hamburg

This regional range calls for careful advance planning: narrow streets in historic old towns, rural farmsteads with long access roads or island moves to Fehmarn require different vehicles and approaches. Our location pages for Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg, Neumünster and Norderstedt give you further details on prices and the process locally.

Old towns, the Fehmarnsund, the Hamburg area: special features

A move in Schleswig-Holstein differs in many respects from a move in a big city such as Berlin. The historic old town of Lübeck is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is why narrow streets, heritage protection requirements and limited access call for smaller, more manoeuvrable vehicles. In Flensburg's old town and in the historic centres of smaller towns such as Schleswig or Eutin, narrow streets and limited stopping areas are also not unusual.

Anyone moving to the island of Fehmarn or to coastal towns on the Vogelfluglinie route also has to plan for the journey via the B 207 and the Fehmarnsund Bridge – something we take into account in route planning from the start. The weather on the North Sea and Baltic coasts, with wind and rain in open terrain, also plays a role in loading, which is why we consistently protect furniture with weatherproof blankets and film.

Unlike Berlin, large parts of Schleswig-Holstein are dominated by detached houses, terraced houses and farms rather than high-rise blocks. This often means more cellars, garages and garden sheds that have to be cleared as well – a point many customers underestimate when estimating costs. At the same time, customers in rural areas usually benefit from better parking directly in front of the door, while in Kiel, Lübeck or Norderstedt a parking restriction zone is often useful to make moving day run smoothly.

For commuters between Norderstedt, Ahrensburg or Pinneberg and Hamburg, we also take into account the particular traffic situation in the commuter belt, planning journeys outside rush hours to save time and costs.

Guide prices for moves in Schleswig-Holstein

Moving costs in Schleswig-Holstein depend on flat size, distance, floor and the additional services required. A purely local move within a city such as Kiel or Lübeck is usually priced differently from a long-distance move right across the state or from Berlin to the coast. Here is an orientation based on our guide figures:

Type of movePrice from
1-room flat (local move)from €349
2-room flat (local move)from €594
3-room flat (local move)from €879
Long-distance move (e.g. Berlin – Schleswig-Holstein)from €4.20/km
Parking restriction zone per day€30–100

These prices are guide figures and may vary depending on the floor, lift situation, bulky waste or additional requests such as furniture assembly. In historic old towns such as Lübeck or Schleswig, a parking restriction zone can be useful to shorten loading time considerably and avoid fines. The need for a clearance before the move – for example when clearing a farm in the district of Dithmarschen or a flat in Neumünster – also affects the total cost.

For long-distance moves from Berlin to Schleswig-Holstein, we charge the per-kilometre rate from €4.20/km, depending on the actual route, the loading volume and any stopovers, for example for part-load transport of other customers' goods on the same route. That way the move remains calculable and transparent even over longer distances, with no hidden extra costs at the end of moving day.

Planning short and long routes in the state

Whether a short change of location or a move over long distances – at Praktik Transport und Umzüge you get both from a single source. A local move in Schleswig-Holstein is, for example, when you move within Kiel, switch from Neumünster to Bad Segeberg or move to a larger flat within Norderstedt. Here the focus is on short distances, flexible scheduling and a manageable time frame.

A long-distance move to or within Schleswig-Holstein is when longer distances are covered, for example from Berlin to the Baltic coast. For orientation, here are the road kilometres from our company at Stromstraße 21 (Berlin-Moabit):

RouteApprox. distance
Berlin – Lübeckapprox. 274 km
Berlin – Norderstedtapprox. 295 km
Berlin – Neumünsterapprox. 325 km
Berlin – Kielapprox. 346 km
Berlin – Flensburgapprox. 425 km

For these routes we plan the journey via the A24 and, towards Neumünster, Kiel and Flensburg, on via the A21 and A7, to avoid traffic jams and schedule your moving day realistically. For long-distance moves we also offer the option of part-load transport if your household goods do not need the whole loading space of a lorry – this saves costs, especially for smaller flats or single pieces of furniture.

Whether a local or long-distance move: on request we also take care of the complete organisation of senior moves, with particular attention to mobility and safety, and of student moves to Kiel or Lübeck, which often have to be planned at short notice and on a small budget.

Services for your move in the north

To make sure your move in Schleswig-Holstein runs smoothly, we offer a comprehensive service package geared to private and business customers alike. For families and individuals we handle the complete private move, from packing to assembling furniture in the new flat, whether in a new-build flat in Norderstedt or a period building in Kiel.

We support companies relocating or moving into new office space with a structured office move designed for minimal downtime – important, for example, for businesses on the Neumünster industrial estate or in the Lübeck-Travemünde port area.

Further services at a glance:

Especially in university cities such as Kiel and Lübeck, student moves are often in demand at the start of the semester, while in more rural regions such as Nordfriesland or Dithmarschen larger clearances of farmsteads or holiday homes are often needed. For both cases we set the vehicle, staff and equipment – such as transport straps for heavy furniture and pianos – after the survey.

The process from survey to assembly

A well-structured process is the basis for a stress-free move in Schleswig-Holstein. First, we carry out a free survey on site or by video to realistically assess the volume, floor, access routes and special features such as narrow old-town lanes in Lübeck or Flensburg.

We then prepare a transparent quote with a clear breakdown of costs, taking into account all the additional services you want, such as packing materials, clearance or a parking restriction zone. Once the order is confirmed, we plan the actual process:

  • Agreeing the date, including the journey via the A7, A20, A24 or federal roads depending on the destination
  • Delivery of boxes, blankets and packing materials in advance
  • Professional dismantling of furniture and electrical appliances
  • Safe transport with a suitable vehicle depending on the region
  • Assembly and furnishing in the new flat or office
  • Final cleaning or disposal on request

For moves into listed old towns, for example Lübeck's World Heritage area, the parking restriction zone should be applied for from the city early; we tell you the length required. For moves from Berlin, we coordinate the pick-up and delivery dates so that the driving time on the A24 is used as well as possible and waiting times are kept to a minimum.

On moving day itself, you have a fixed contact person who coordinates the whole process – from the first box to the last task in assembling the furniture. That way you keep track at all times, whether you are moving within Kiel or planning a complete long-distance move to Flensburg.

From Berlin to Schleswig-Holstein: routes and motorways

Many of our customers move from Berlin to Schleswig-Holstein for work or private reasons, whether to the Baltic coast, the commuter belt around Hamburg or one of the state's larger cities. The choice of route usually depends on the destination: from Berlin the A24 leads towards Hamburg; Lübeck and Norderstedt are mainly reached via the A24, while Neumünster, Kiel and Flensburg also involve the A21 and – for Flensburg – the A7.

To help with planning, here again are the most important routes at a glance:

From Berlin toApproximate distanceTypical route
Norderstedtapprox. 295 kmA24
Lübeckapprox. 274 kmA24
Kielapprox. 346 kmA24 – A21
Neumünsterapprox. 325 kmA24 – A21
Flensburgapprox. 425 kmA24 – A21 – A7

For these distances we calculate long-distance moves from €4.20/km, with the loading volume, the floor at the destination and any stopovers for part-load transport affecting the final total. Especially for a move with a piano or other delicate goods, we recommend planning our piano transport early, as it requires special equipment and more lead time.

If you are moving from Berlin to one of Schleswig-Holstein's larger cities, you have a company from Berlin-Moabit at your side: we plan the pick-up situation in Berlin just as carefully as access in Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg, Neumünster or Norderstedt, which we clarify with you in advance.

Parking restriction for a move in Schleswig-Holstein: Lübeck, Norderstedt and Neumünster

In Schleswig-Holstein too, you apply for the parking restriction to the city in which it is to apply. The cities handle this differently:

  • Lübeck: the road traffic authority of the Hanseatic City is responsible. According to luebeck.de, you submit one-off applications via an online form; anyone submitting at least five applications per quarter uses a login. The city does not provide traffic signs.
  • Norderstedt: the application goes to the Office for Building Regulations, Road and Right-of-Way Law (Rathausallee 50). According to norderstedt.de, it must be submitted „at least two weeks“ before the start, and the signs must be up three full days beforehand. The fee is charged per registration number; the page does not state an amount.
  • Neumünster: a parking restriction „e.g. for moves“ is treated as special use. The application is available as a PDF; ask the road traffic affairs department (04321 942 3002) about fees and deadlines.

As a rule of thumb: apply early – Norderstedt requires at least two weeks' lead time – and clarify who puts up the signs. A parking restriction is a prerequisite for a clear loading zone in front of the building, especially in densely built city centres. You can read more about the cities under Lübeck, Norderstedt and Neumünster. How we align our moving date with the permit is described under parking restriction zone.

Moving to Fehmarn and registering on the coast: getting there and registration offices

If you are moving to the island of Fehmarn, according to fehmarn.de you drive north on the A1, which becomes the B 207/E47 near Heiligenhafen and leads „across the Fehmarnsund Bridge directly to Fehmarn“. The page also points out that the Avendorf bridge over the B 207 has been closed since 18 May 2026 until probably June 2027; the B 207 remains open. Check the diversion before moving day and, with a larger lorry, allow a time buffer for the journey.

According to fehmarn.de, the Scandlines Puttgarden–Rødby ferry connects Fehmarn with Denmark every half hour, and the crossing takes 45 minutes. It is not relevant for moves from Berlin, but it is for long-distance moves to Denmark.

After moving in, the two-week deadline under § 17 of the Federal Registration Act (BMG) applies here too:

  • Fehmarn: the City of Fehmarn runs its residents' service in the town hall, Am Markt 1 in Burg, telephone 04371 506-0.
  • Lübeck: according to luebeck.de, you register your new residence within 14 days, online with the online ID function and AusweisApp2 or at the citizens' service office.
  • Kiel: registration is possible online or at the town hall without an appointment; a landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) is required, a tenancy agreement is not sufficient.
