DEPENDABLE

Request a move in Halberstadt

With advance notice, because the team comes from Berlin

For your move in Halberstadt we need both addresses, the floor, your preferred date and a rough list of furniture. From this we plan a private move, office move or furniture transport and send you a fixed-price quote – with time for the parking ban request.

Services can be planned individually; availability is limited, and an early request makes it easier to choose the best date.

Important answers for your move in Halberstadt

Here you will find answers on costs, the parking ban, villages and registration for your move in Halberstadt – with the city's information for private and commercial projects.

Above all, the historic Altstadt around the cathedral and St Martin's Church, with narrow lanes and limited parking, requires careful planning, often including a parking restriction zone (Halteverbotszone).

Halberstadt on the edge of the Harz: how a move works in the cathedral town

A move in Halberstadt has some particular features. The cathedral town on the Holtemme is the largest town in the Harz district and is also called the "Gateway to the Harz". Its historic Altstadt – where streets such as the Voigtei, Gröperstraße, Bakenstraße and Westendorf with around 450 half-timbered houses have survived – lies around the cathedral and St Martin's Church; much was rebuilt after the air raid of 8 April 1945. In old houses with narrow stairs and low doors, careful work is required. Praktik Transport und Umzüge is not based in Halberstadt but at Stromstraße 21 in Berlin-Moabit.

A move in Halberstadt with us starts with a free survey by video or by arrangement, followed by a fixed-price quote. We then take care of packing, dismantling, transport and reassembly. For a private move we provide vehicles and staff to suit the size of the flat, whether you are moving from the Altstadt to the Klussiedlung or to a village such as Langenstein.

As many streets in the historic centre are narrow, we plan the approach and loading time in advance. From our base it is around 209 road kilometres via the A2 and A14; the town itself lies on the B79, B81 and B245 federal roads and close to the A36. If you also want to get rid of old furniture, you can add our clearance service so that the move and household clearance come from a single source. This makes the move stress-free, whether within the town or from another region to Halberstadt.

Altstadt, estates, villages: residential areas in Halberstadt

Halberstadt is divided into several districts with very different residential areas, each with its own requirements for a move. The Altstadt around Domplatz and Holzmarkt is characterised by historic half-timbered houses, especially in the Voigtei and Gröperstraße, narrow lanes and limited parking – good preparation, for example with a parking restriction zone, is particularly important here.

In estates such as the Klussiedlung or the Sargstedter Siedlung and in areas of detached houses on the edge of town, there are often garages and parking spaces, which makes loading and unloading easier. In post-war and GDR-era blocks of flats we mainly clarify the floor and the lift; in Gründerzeit houses around the town centre, the stairwell and carrying routes.

On the edge of the Spiegelsberge, an 18th-century landscape park in the south of the town, there are larger plots and older houses where a senior move with particular consideration is often needed. For each of these areas we clarify the practical questions in advance: from the narrow access in the Altstadt to transport by lift in the blocks of flats.

A survey by video helps to plan the move realistically from the start – including parking, approach routes and any permits needed. This saves you time and avoids nasty surprises on moving day, whichever part of Halberstadt your new home is in.

What a move in Halberstadt costs

Moving costs in Halberstadt depend on several factors: flat size, floor, distance and any extra services needed, such as packing or furniture assembly. The following overview serves as a guide for a comprehensive private move:

Flat sizeStarting priceTypical duration
1-room flatfrom €369approx. 3–4 hours
2-room flatfrom €609approx. 5–6 hours
3-room flatfrom €879approx. 7–9 hours

These prices are starting values for a move within Halberstadt or to the nearby area. For bulky or particularly valuable items such as a grand or upright piano, we recommend our dedicated piano transport, which uses straps, blankets and suitable equipment to avoid damage.

If you only need to move a few pieces of furniture, for example when moving from a student hall to another town, you save real money with a part load, as the cargo space is shared with other moves. An accompanying clearance of old furniture or a cellar can also easily be included in the overall package.

Additional costs may arise if a parking restriction zone is needed in narrow Altstadt streets, which costs between €30 and €100 per day depending on effort and duration. We prepare a detailed, non-binding quote after a short survey or after you send photos – so you know before booking what costs to expect.

Parking ban in Halberstadt's Altstadt

Anyone moving in the historic Altstadt of Halberstadt or in busy residential streets knows the problem: parking right outside the front door is often scarce. Regular parking is particularly limited around Domplatz, Holzmarkt and in the narrow lanes near St Martin's Church.

So that the removal van can stop right outside the door, an official parking restriction zone often makes sense. It must be ordered by the road traffic authority; for this, the city administration lists the unit "Straßenverkehr" in its directory of services. The city does not state the fee or notice period on its pages – ask about both early. We help you prepare the address, length and time period.

Our price list gives €30 to €100 per day for a parking restriction zone, depending on location, duration and signage. One to two days are usually enough, but the signs must be in place a few days beforehand.

The following points are particularly important when planning parking in Halberstadt:

  • Narrow Altstadt streets with little room for larger vehicles
  • Cobblestones in historic areas, which make manoeuvring harder
  • Limited parking at apartment buildings without their own courtyard entrance
  • Roadworks and closures, which the city publishes under "Verkehr" (traffic)

This way you can concentrate on your move, with parking space and schedule clarified beforehand.

Halberstadt on the B79, B81 and A36: moves into the region and to Berlin

Halberstadt lies on the northern edge of the Harz on the B79, B81 and B245 federal roads and close to the A36 motorway between Braunschweig and Bernburg. Because of the many roads that meet here – from Magdeburg, Halle, Goslar or the Harz towns – the town is also called the "Gateway to the Harz". For moves into the region or to other federal states, this means short distances to the trunk road network.

From Halberstadt to our base on Stromstraße in Berlin-Moabit it is around 209 road kilometres, mostly via the A2 and A14 – just under three hours' pure driving time by lorry. For long distances our price list starts at €3.85 per kilometre; the fixed price after a survey is binding.

We also plan moves between Halberstadt and other towns in Saxony-Anhalt, for example to Magdeburg, Halle (Saale), Dessau-Roßlau or Lutherstadt Wittenberg, as well as to Lower Saxony, Thuringia or Brandenburg.

For smaller quantities, for example moving a single room or a partial move over long distances, our part load is a good option – you share the cargo space with other customers and save on transport costs. Because our team travels from Berlin, we plan the route, breaks and arrival window in advance so that your belongings arrive on time.

Services for your move in Halberstadt

As a removal company from Berlin, we offer a broad range of services in Halberstadt that goes well beyond classic furniture transport. The aim is to give you a move from a single source – from initial planning to the last box.

We combine these services individually as needed. For example, a company move to a business park on the edge of town can be combined with clearing the old offices, while a student move is often particularly affordable as a part load.

We check the streets, location and access for every address in advance and adapt vehicles, staff and equipment accordingly. Whether an older flat in the Altstadt, a terraced house in the Klussiedlung or an office building in a business park – we ensure a smooth process and safe transport of all your belongings.

Office, practice, workshop: company move in Halberstadt

A company move in Halberstadt has different requirements from a private flat move: business operations should be disrupted as little as possible, IT infrastructure must be safely dismantled and reassembled, and sensitive documents must be handled confidentially. We support small practices, medium-sized businesses and larger companies with their move within Halberstadt or to surrounding business parks.

Especially at commercial sites on the edge of town, for example along the federal roads, we plan delivery times so that delivery traffic and ongoing operations are not affected. Our company move service includes, among other things:

  • Dismantling and reassembly of office furniture, shelving systems and reception counters
  • Proper transport of IT equipment, servers and filing cabinets
  • Labelling and inventory for smooth reassembly
  • Moves outside business hours, at weekends or overnight
  • Combination with clearance of old office furniture and files

We also have suitable solutions for doctors' practices, law firms or smaller workshops in Halberstadt town centre, where narrow access and limited parking are compensated for by a parking restriction zone organised in advance. This keeps ongoing operations largely undisturbed during the move.

On request we draw up a detailed moving plan with a timeline, responsibilities and stages, so that even more complex company moves involving several departments run in a structured way. From the first consultation to the final start-up at the new location, we accompany businesses in Halberstadt reliably and discreetly through the entire process.

Student move in Halberstadt & simple booking process

With its site of Harz University of Applied Sciences, Halberstadt is an important place of education in the region, which is why student moves in Halberstadt come up regularly – whether moving into a first room of your own, changing flats during your studies or moving to another town after graduating. Our student move offer is designed specifically for smaller budgets and usually modest amounts of furniture.

As student moves often involve only a few boxes, a bed, a desk and some shelves, a part load is often worthwhile, where several smaller moves share one van. This noticeably lowers the cost without you having to do without reliable transport.

Booking a move with us is straightforward and takes just a few steps:

  • Short enquiry by phone, email or online form with the basic details
  • Free assessment based on photos, flat size or an on-site appointment
  • Binding quote with a transparent cost breakdown
  • Date agreed, also possible at short notice at the start or end of semester
  • The move carried out, including dismantling and assembly as required

Demand for moving dates in Halberstadt is especially high at the change of semester, which is why booking early is advisable. We offer flexible dates, including at weekends, and arrange the approach and any parking restriction zones needed in narrower residential areas in good time. This makes the student move stress-free and fairly priced – from first contact to the last box in the new flat.

Parking ban for a move in Halberstadt: legal framework and preparation

A parking ban for your move in Halberstadt must be ordered by the responsible road traffic authority. The city administration lists a separate organisational unit "Straßenverkehr" (road traffic) in its directory of services. The legal basis is § 45 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO): road traffic authorities may restrict or prohibit the use of certain roads or stretches of road for reasons of safety or order. According to paragraph 4, they regulate traffic by means of traffic signs and traffic devices. So there is no such thing as a parking ban without signs.

The city does not state the fee or notice period for parking bans for moves on the pages we checked. Ask the city administration about both in good time and have this information ready:

  • Address: street and house numbers, separately for moving out and moving in.
  • Date: date and time of the move.
  • Length: the stretch your vehicle needs.
  • Early: submit the request as soon as your moving date is fixed, so that the signs can be in place in good time before the move.

Regardless of this, under § 12 (3) StVO parking is not permitted, among other places, in front of property entrances and exits and in front of lowered kerbs. This also applies to your removal van if there is no parking ban.

You can find help with the request and planning here: parking restriction zone. Further information is available in the guide to moving to Halberstadt.

Halberstadt: villages, Altstadt and registration after moving in

According to the city, Halberstadt includes seven villages: Aspenstedt am Huy, Athenstedt am Huy, Emersleben, Klein Quenstedt, Langenstein, Sargstedt am Huy and Schachdorf Ströbeck. The city lists them on a separate page, "Ortsteile". Plan moves to these villages with the exact address, because the approach and carrying routes differ from the town centre. For Langenstein, for example, the city refers to the castle and castle park and the open-air pool, and for Ströbeck to the chess museum.

In the town centre, the city's website lists, among other things, the historic Altstadt, the Jewish Quarter, the cathedral and cathedral treasury and the project to redesign Breiter Weg. If you are moving in or out there, ask the road traffic unit early about access and space for setting up, and keep an eye on roadworks; the city publishes closures and diversions under "Verkehr".

After moving in, § 17 of the Federal Registration Act sets a registration deadline of two weeks. Your landlord must confirm the move-in (§ 19 BMG); the city offers the landlord confirmation as an online service on its website. The city also lists Harz University of Applied Sciences under "Studieren".
