Key answers for your move in Berlin Wartenberg
Our team drives into the neighbourhood via Neu-Hohenschönhausen and Dorfstraße; we check access to your address in the village centre or on the estates in advance. Wartenberg station (S75), by the way, lies south of the neighbourhood in Neu-Hohenschönhausen.
Wartenberg at a glance: village centre, estates and Feldmark
Wartenberg is one of the quietest neighbourhoods in the Lichtenberg district and still has a village character. Along the old Dorfstraße with its listed farmhouses – the village church was blown up in April 1945 – a character has survived that you hardly find anywhere else in Berlin: detached houses, small farmyards and plenty of greenery, directly adjoining the expansive Wartenberger Feldmark. At the same time, Wartenberg is connected to central Berlin via Wartenberg station (terminus of the S75, to the south in the neighbouring area of Neu-Hohenschönhausen) and bus route 256, which makes the neighbourhood attractive both for young families and for older people who want to spend their retirement in green surroundings.
As a moving company in Berlin Wartenberg, Praktik Transport und Umzüge, trading as Beste Umzug, comes from Moabit and checks the particular features of this neighbourhood in advance: the narrow access roads in the old village centre along Dorfstraße, the pre-war estates of Wartenberg, Falkenhöhe and Margaretenhöhe and the new detached houses around the Wartenberger Hof. This mix of old and new requires individual planning, which we take into account for every household move.
Whether you are moving within Wartenberg, swapping a detached house for a flat suited to older age or moving to Berlin for work: our team organises the entire process, from the on-site survey to assembling the furniture in your new home. As Wartenberg borders the neighbourhoods of Falkenberg, Malchow and Neu-Hohenschönhausen, we also handle moves across neighbourhood boundaries without surprise surcharges. The prior survey ensures that we realistically plan routes, the parking situation and possible bottlenecks when preparing the quote.
Moving company for Wartenberg: our services in the neighbourhood
As a Berlin moving company for Wartenberg, we offer the full range of moving services – tailored to the typical types of housing in the neighbourhood. For families in the detached-house estates along Dorfstraße and around the old village green, we organise the classic household move including packing, transport and furniture assembly. For businesses and institutions in Wartenberg and the neighbouring areas, we handle the business relocation with as little downtime for operations as possible.
As Wartenberg has many older residents who have lived in their houses for a very long time, the senior move is a particularly sensitive area of our services: we allow plenty of time and take care of dealings with the authorities, moves into assisted living and the respectful dissolution of households. To go with this, we also offer professional clearance of cellars, lofts and garden sheds, which is often requested in Wartenberg because of the many detached houses and allotments.
For customers who only want to move a few pieces of furniture or whose goods do not fill a whole vehicle, a part load is a cost-effective alternative, especially for moves from Wartenberg to other federal states. We also handle piano transport, carried out safely by trained staff with suitable equipment even via narrow stairwells in old buildings and detached houses. After transport, we take care of complete furniture assembly on request, so that you arrive straight in your new home in Wartenberg on moving day without having to turn any screws yourself. All services can be combined flexibly and are calculated transparently in advance.
Parking restriction zone and parking when moving in Wartenberg
A frequently underestimated issue on moves in Wartenberg is the parking situation. In the old village centre around Dorfstraße, the streets have grown historically and are correspondingly narrow – stopping space for a removal van is often scarce here, especially when residents and delivery traffic are out and about at the same time. On the estates and at the new detached houses there is more space, but here too it can get tight because of residents' and visitors' parked cars, particularly at weekends.
So that your moving day does not start with a search for parking, we apply for a parking restriction zone directly outside your front door in Wartenberg. We take care of the application to the responsible authorities, put up the signs in good time before the moving date and document the zone with photos. This keeps stopping and loading space free for you and our team on moving day, without you having to worry about parking fines or a laborious search for a space in the neighbourhood.
Especially for moves from detached houses with their own driveway, we check in advance whether the driveway is wide enough for our removal van or whether a larger vehicle has to stop on the street and items carried a short distance. For moves to the adjoining neighbourhoods of Neu-Hohenschönhausen or Falkenberg, we also take the parking rules there into account. Our aim is for furniture to be moved quickly and without long carrying distances across the street – that saves time, protects your furniture and ultimately lowers the total cost of your move.
Moving costs in Wartenberg: transparent fixed prices
The moving costs in Wartenberg depend on several factors: the distance to the new home, the volume of goods, the floor and whether there is a lift or furniture has to be carried via stairs. A move within Wartenberg, for example from the village centre on Dorfstraße to one of the newer detached houses on the edge of the village, is usually cheaper than a move over long distances through Berlin or even a long-distance move to another federal state.
So that you can plan from the outset, we give you a binding fixed price after a free on-site survey – with no hidden extra costs for fuel, tolls or additional kilometres. On our page on moving costs in Berlin you will also find general guide figures for initial orientation before we draw up an individual quote for your specific move in Wartenberg.
Important cost factors for a move in Wartenberg include:
- Access options on Dorfstraße or the residential streets on the edge of the village
- Farmyard entrances and gates at the listed farmhouses
- Number of floors in detached houses with a converted attic
- Volume of goods, for example when clearing an entire household
- Additional services such as a parking restriction zone, clearance or piano transport
We recommend arranging a survey appointment early, especially for larger household clearances or senior moves in Wartenberg, so that we can record all the details and give you a realistic fixed price that will still stand on moving day.
Old buildings, detached houses and new builds: furniture transport in Wartenberg
The buildings in Wartenberg are unusually diverse for a Berlin neighbourhood of this size. On Dorfstraße there are listed farmhouses and former farmsteads, often with narrow stairs, low door frames and no lift. On the pre-war estates and at the new detached houses around the Wartenberger Hof, on the other hand, entrances are usually wider, but gardens, garages and outbuildings come into play.
For detached houses without a lift, we plan the carrying of heavy furniture such as wardrobes, sofas or pianos safely through narrow stairwells. For multi-storey buildings with a converted attic or particularly bulky items, we check in advance whether using a furniture lift makes sense to protect stairwells and walls and speed up the move. Especially for upright pianos, grand pianos or antique wardrobes, our piano transport is in demand, as such pieces are often particularly valuable.
After transport, we reassemble all furniture on request – from the kitchen unit and bed to the wardrobe – as part of our furniture assembly. This is particularly practical for moves into the new detached houses, where fitted kitchens and custom-made wall units often have to be professionally dismantled and reassembled. Whether a historic detached house, a modern semi-detached house or a new-build flat: we adapt our approach to the building in question and make sure that neither furniture nor stairwells are damaged.
Popular moving routes from Wartenberg
From Wartenberg, many of our customers' moves lead to the directly adjoining neighbourhoods or on into central Berlin. We particularly often handle moves to Neu-Hohenschönhausen, where many Wartenberg families move for better tram and S-Bahn connections, and to Falkenberg, which is considered a similarly quiet, green neighbourhood. We also plan moves towards Malchow, which can be reached directly via Dorfstraße.
Those who want to be closer to the district centres for work often move on towards Friedrichsfelde or Karlshorst, where the S-Bahn and the racecourse grounds offer a very different, more urban everyday life. Moves to Rummelsburg on Lake Rummelsburg are also popular with former Wartenberg residents seeking a change from village greenery to living by the water. Thanks to Wartenberg station on the S75 in neighbouring Neu-Hohenschönhausen, all these destinations are easy to reach even without a car, which makes planning moving day easier.
In addition to moves within Berlin, we also regularly handle long-distance moves from Wartenberg to other federal states, for example when families move away from the quiet Lichtenberg neighbourhood for work. For such routes we also offer a part load, so that even smaller volumes can be transported cost-efficiently without booking a whole lorry on your own. Whatever route your move takes, we plan the journey from Wartenberg in advance and calculate travel and arrival times realistically.
How your move in Wartenberg works: process and booking
A move in Wartenberg always begins with a no-obligation enquiry, either by phone or via our contact form. In the next step, we arrange an appointment for a free on-site survey – whether in a detached house on Dorfstraße, an estate house or a new build on the edge of the village. We record the volume of goods, check access routes, the number of floors and the need for a parking restriction zone, and discuss individual additional services with you such as clearance or furniture assembly.
Based on this survey, you receive a transparent fixed price from us that includes all the services discussed. As soon as you confirm the date, we schedule the right vehicle, the required number of movers and the necessary packing materials. On moving day itself, we handle the entire process: from professionally packing fragile items and transport to assembling the furniture in your new home – whether it is a household move, a business relocation or a senior move.
For customers in Wartenberg, we recommend booking the moving date as early as possible, especially at the end of the month or during the holidays, when many moves take place at the same time. This secures your preferred date and gives us enough time to set up any necessary parking restriction zone in good time. After the move is completed, we are also available for follow-up work such as connecting electrical appliances or fine-tuning the furniture layout, so that you feel at home in your new home in Wartenberg from the very start.
Insider tip Wartenberg: living and moving in Lichtenberg's green neighbourhood
Wartenberg is one of Berlin's lesser-known but particularly pleasant neighbourhoods – a real insider tip for anyone who wants to combine village tranquillity with good connections to the capital. The listed farmhouses on Dorfstraße still shape the village scene today; the medieval village church was blown up in April 1945. If you want to go for a walk after the move, the adjoining Wartenberger Feldmark offers wide fields, meadows and paths that form a clear contrast to the dense city centre and are ideal for settling into your new home.
For families with children, the proximity to green spaces and the manageable traffic away from the major arterial roads are an important argument for moving to Wartenberg. At the same time, nearby Wartenberg station on the S75 means you can reach central Berlin in a comparatively short time without depending on a car. This mix of rural charm and connections close to the city makes Wartenberg attractive to many.
Our tip for newcomers: take time in the first few weeks to explore the old village centre and enjoy the peace of the Feldmark before everyday life with work and nursery runs begins. As your moving company for Wartenberg, we make sure the move itself runs so smoothly that you have exactly this time to settle in. From the parking restriction zone outside your front door to the last screw in the furniture assembly, we take care of every detail, so you can concentrate on your new life in this special Lichtenberg neighbourhood from day one.
Applying for a parking ban in Wartenberg: Lichtenberg Roads and Green Spaces Office
Wartenberg belongs to the Lichtenberg district. For a parking ban on moving day, for example on Dorfstraße, the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt) of the Lichtenberg district office is therefore responsible. According to service.berlin.de, you can reach it at Alt-Friedrichsfelde 60, 10315 Berlin, by email at [email protected] or by phone on (030) 90296-6561. Appointments can be arranged by email or phone.
- An informal application is sufficient; there are no prerequisites.
- The minimum fee is €21; the final amount depends on scope and duration.
- Processing takes about four weeks on average.
- The authority issues the order; the traffic signs are put up by a specialist construction-site safety company.
State the street, house number, period and the desired length of the space in the application. If you do not want to submit the application yourself, find out about our parking restriction zone service. Because of the processing time, allow at least four weeks' lead time.
Please note: the service.berlin.de page does not list fixed opening hours for the Lichtenberg location, so making an appointment is the safe option.
Describe the desired space so that loading and unloading is possible with the shortest possible distances between the front door and the vehicle. If moving out and moving in take place on different days or in different streets, submit a separate application for each date.
Wartenberg: Dorfstraße, estates and access to your moving destination
The Lichtenberg district office describes Wartenberg as a neighbourhood with an old village centre. The farmers' and farm labourers' houses with farmyards and stable buildings on Dorfstraße were built between 1845 and 1900 and are now listed. The old village church from the 13th century was blown up in April 1945; since 2001 a town square of around 3,000 square metres has been located near the new church.
North-east of the old village, the “Neu-Wartenberg” estate was built in 1928 and renamed “Wartenberg” in 1948. The Falkenhöhe allotment site was later given the status of a housing estate. Wartenberg therefore consists of a village centre, estate houses and garden plots rather than a uniform street grid.
For your move this means: for listed farmhouses, we plan access, farmyard and carrying route in advance, without any structural interventions. For detached houses, the garden and outbuildings are often part of the goods to be moved. Do not confuse Wartenberg with the neighbouring areas of Malchow and Neu-Hohenschönhausen: each neighbourhood has its own streets and its own access routes.
Small details also count: we look at narrow farmyard entrances, garden gates and outbuildings during the survey. This makes it possible to determine in advance whether the removal van can stand directly outside the house or whether routes to the farmyard need to be planned in.
If you live in the village centre, please give us the dimensions of the farmyard entrance and gates, as they determine the choice of vehicle.
