Moving company Rummelsburg

Gründerzeit and waterside living: what matters when moving in Rummelsburg

move without stress

Unsere Firma Moving help for period buildings, townhouses and converted brick buildings between Ostkreuz, the bay and Lichtenberg station.
In Rummelsburg, two worlds sit side by side: the period buildings of the Victoriastadt around Kaskelstraße and Nöldnerstraße and the new residential buildings on Rummelsburg Bay. For a household move, office move or furniture transport, we therefore first clarify the stairwell, lift and stopping space.
Our team from Stromstraße 21 in Moabit surveys your flat in advance, in person or by video. We clarify whether a packing service, furniture lift, small-load transport or part load is right – and whether a parking restriction zone is needed on Kaskelstraße or Hauptstraße.

Questions about moving in Rummelsburg: period buildings, bay, parking ban

Key answers for your move in Berlin Rummelsburg

Answers on moving, parking bans and costs in Rummelsburg – from period flats in the Kaskelkiez to new builds on the bay, including bulky waste and registration.

As many buildings in the Kaskelkiez are period buildings without lifts, we check the floor and stairwell width in advance and use a furniture lift if needed. This allows even bulky furniture to be moved safely without straining the historic stairwell.

Rummelsburg at a glance: Victoriastadt, the bay and Lichtenberg station

Praktik Transport und Umzüge, known under the brand Beste Umzug, comes from Moabit and handles moves in the Berlin neighbourhood of Rummelsburg. Part of Lichtenberg and located between Rummelsburg Bay, Ostkreuz and Lichtenberg station, the neighbourhood is a mix of period buildings in the Victoriastadt, the so-called Kaskelkiez, the Weitlingkiez and modern waterside new builds, for example on An der Bucht and Paul-und-Paula-Ufer. This architectural variety makes different demands on every move – from narrow stairwells on Kaskelstraße to the underground car parks of the new owner-occupied complexes overlooking Lake Rummelsburg.

Before the date, we check the routes via Hauptstraße, Köpenicker Chaussee and Nöldnerstraße as well as access by the bay, where many day-trippers are out and about on fine days. Whether a compact household move from a period flat in the Kaskelkiez or a business relocation from an office in the neighbourhood – our team plans every move individually and with an eye on local conditions.

With Ostkreuz on its edge and Lichtenberg station (U5, S5, S7, S75) within the neighbourhood, Rummelsburg is well connected. We handle the entire process from the survey and packing to transport and schedule dates flexibly around the availability of lifts, parking spaces and building entrances. This makes your move to or from Rummelsburg a smooth experience, whether it is within the neighbourhood, to a neighbouring district or a long-distance move to another city.

Moving in Rummelsburg: process and typical features

A move in Rummelsburg differs considerably depending on the residential area. In the historically evolved Kaskelkiez around Kaskelstraße, Hauptstraße and Türrschmidtstraße, period buildings with high ceilings and narrow stairwells, often without a lift, dominate. Careful advance planning is crucial here: tight turns on the stairs, low cellar doors and limited space in the hallway require careful planning and suitable equipment. On Rummelsburg Bay, by contrast, modern residential complexes with lifts, underground car parks and wider corridors characterise the picture – here the challenges lie more in registering delivery zones and coordinating with the property management.

For both scenarios, we use a furniture lift as required to move furniture safely and without damaging the stairwell or walls. Especially for moves from upper floors in period buildings, this saves time and spares both backs and building fabric. Our furniture assembly is part of our service, so that wardrobes, shelves and beds are ready to use again straight away at the new location.

Upright and grand pianos move too: our piano transport takes into account both the narrow spiral staircases of some period buildings and the lift dimensions of newer properties on the bay. Before every move, we ideally carry out a short survey or phone call to plan the floor, access routes, need for a parking ban and special items such as pianos at an early stage. This way we avoid surprises on moving day and ensure a structured, on-schedule process – whether in the dense fabric of period buildings or in the open new-build structures by the water.

Our moving services for the Rummelsburg neighbourhood

As a Berlin moving company from Moabit, we offer a wide range of services in Rummelsburg, tailored to the different types of housing and business premises in the neighbourhood. For private households, we handle the complete household move, from packing help to assembling the furniture in your new home. Businesses on Köpenicker Chaussee or around Lichtenberg station benefit from our business relocation service, which is designed for minimal downtime and discreet, predictable processes outside business hours.

Not every transport requires a whole lorry: for single pieces of furniture, smaller amounts or student moves into a shared flat, we offer the cost-effective part load, in which your goods are combined with other transports. If a relative is moving from a flat in the Kaskelkiez into a care home or an accessible flat, our senior move ensures a particularly considerate and well-organised process.

When households need to be dissolved, for example after an inheritance or when a business closes, we are on hand with our clearance service and hand over flats or commercial premises broom-clean.

Our service package also includes:

  • Packing and provision of materials for fragile items
  • Dismantling and reassembly of kitchens, wardrobes and shelves
  • Provision of parking restriction zones for smooth loading and unloading
  • Transport of upright pianos, grand pianos and other sensitive special items
  • Interim storage of goods when there is a gap between moving out and moving in

This combination of core services and additional services makes us a flexible partner for almost any moving situation in Rummelsburg – from a small room to an entire office location.

Organising a parking restriction zone and parking in Rummelsburg

Anyone who has ever tried to find a parking space for a removal van on Kaskelstraße or around Hauptstraße at short notice knows the challenge: the streets of Rummelsburg's period housing are often narrow and lined with parked cars on both sides. On Rummelsburg Bay, too, where numerous new buildings have been built since the 2000s, parking pressure from residents and visitors to the waterfront paths is high. In many places it is hardly possible to stop spontaneously right outside the front door without obstructing traffic or risking a parking ticket.

So that your moving day does not start with a search for parking, we apply for a parking restriction zone at the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt) of the Lichtenberg district office. We take care of the signage, the permit and putting the signs up in good time before your date, so that on moving day there is enough space for the vehicle, the ramp and the loading and unloading. This is particularly important in narrow stretches such as Kaskelstraße or in perimeter block developments with narrow pavements, where every metre counts.

Forward planning also makes sense for new builds with underground car parks: entrances are often limited in height or width, so larger removal vehicles have to stop on the street instead. We check the local conditions in advance – whether on An der Bucht, on Hauptstraße or in the Kaskelkiez – and arrange the parking situation individually. This saves you stress, arguments with neighbours and possible delays, so you can concentrate fully on the move itself while we keep the organisational details around parking under control.

Moving costs in Rummelsburg: transparent fixed prices

The cost of a move in Rummelsburg depends on several factors: living space, floor, whether there is a lift, distance to the new home and additional services such as packing or furniture assembly. A small move from a two-room flat in the Kaskelkiez to a neighbouring street differs considerably in price from a complete move of a family flat with balcony and cellar on Rummelsburg Bay to another city. On our page on moving costs in Berlin you will find a detailed overview of price factors and guide figures to give you an initial orientation.

Instead of vague estimates, Beste Umzug relies on transparent fixed prices, which are set after an on-site survey or a detailed phone call. This means you know exactly what costs to expect before moving day – without hidden surcharges for floors, parking restriction zones or packing materials. Especially for period flats in the Kaskelkiez without a lift or for bulky items such as a piano, a precise advance assessment is worthwhile so that the effort for a furniture lift or additional staff is included in the price from the start.

Additional services such as clearance, part load or senior move can also be integrated into an overall package, which often results in a lower total price than commissioning several providers separately. For moves beyond Rummelsburg, for example to other federal states, we also calculate the costs of long-distance moves transparently according to distance and load volume. Our aim is fair value for money that reflects both the short inner-city move and the larger long-distance move fairly and comprehensibly.

Period buildings, new builds and furniture lifts – moving in Rummelsburg's residential buildings

The buildings in Rummelsburg are characterised by an exciting contrast: on the one hand there are Gründerzeit period buildings in the Kaskelkiez with tall windows, stucco ceilings and often narrow, winding stairwells without lifts. On the other hand, modern residential complexes with lifts, underground car parks and generous floor plans have been built along Rummelsburg Bay since the 2000s, for example on An der Bucht and An den Eiswerken. For us as a moving company, this means that every job in Rummelsburg is tailored individually to the building situation.

For period flats without a lift, which are common on Kaskelstraße or along Hauptstraße, we deliberately use a furniture lift. It allows bulky furniture such as wardrobes, sofas or pianos to be transported directly up the façade to the window, without straining the narrow stairwell or damaging walls and banisters. This not only saves time but also protects the historic building fabric, which is still preserved in its original state in many of the neighbourhood's period buildings.

In the new builds on the bay, the challenge lies more in fine-tuning with the property management: lift dimensions, delivery times and the use of the underground car park often have to be registered in advance. Here customers particularly benefit from our furniture assembly, as fitted kitchens, wardrobe systems and modern furniture often have to be dismantled and reassembled to fit the floor plan precisely. Regardless of whether your new home is in a historic period building or a modern new build by the water – we bring the right equipment to carry out your move in Rummelsburg safely and efficiently.

Popular moving routes from Rummelsburg

From Rummelsburg, many moves lead to neighbouring parts of Lichtenberg or to other Berlin districts. We particularly often handle moves to Karlshorst, which is popular with families for its quiet villa streets and proximity to the Wuhlheide, and to Friedrichsfelde, known for the Tierpark and good connections to the U5.

Moves to the more northerly Lichtenberg neighbourhoods are also not unusual: anyone from Rummelsburg wanting to live closer to green spaces and new housing areas often chooses Falkenberg or Malchow, both of which have a village character on the edge of the city. We also handle moves to Wartenberg and to the large residential areas of Neu-Hohenschönhausen, where prefab blocks with lifts often make the move more straightforward than in Rummelsburg's period buildings.

Thanks to the good transport links via the S3 at Rummelsburg station, the S5/S7/S75 and the U5 at Lichtenberg station and the proximity to Ostkreuz, more distant parts of Berlin are also easy to reach. For moves beyond the city limits, for example to Brandenburg or other federal states, we use the nearby connections towards Frankfurter Allee and the surrounding arterial roads for our long-distance moves. Whether your new home is just a few kilometres away in Karlshorst or a complete move to another region is on the cards – we plan the route in advance, take traffic around Ostkreuz into account and ensure punctual, efficient execution.

Booking a move in Rummelsburg: process & insider tip

Booking your move in Rummelsburg with us is straightforward and personal. In the first step, you contact us by phone or via our contact form and briefly describe the scope, preferred date and special features such as a period building without a lift or a piano that needs to come along. We then arrange a free on-site survey if needed, for example in a flat in the Kaskelkiez or a new-build flat on An der Bucht, to assess the floor, access routes and parking situation precisely.

Based on this information, you receive a transparent fixed-price quote covering all agreed services – from the parking restriction zone and packing to assembling the furniture at the new location. Once you accept, we take care of all the organisational details so that you can concentrate fully on your fresh start on moving day. Our team brings packing materials, tools and, if needed, a furniture lift, and works in a structured way according to a schedule agreed in advance.

A little insider tip for everyone moving into the neighbourhood or needing a break from packing: Paul-und-Paula-Ufer on Rummelsburg Bay is a quiet place to catch your breath after the work is done, before the last boxes are unpacked. A short walk towards Ostkreuz is also worthwhile to test the good transport links of your new home for yourself. Arrange your preferred date early, because demand for moving dates in Rummelsburg is high, especially at the turn of the month – we recommend booking with sufficient lead time so that we can plan your move optimally.

Parking ban in Rummelsburg: responsibility, deadline and fee

For Rummelsburg, you apply for a parking ban at the Lichtenberg district office (Bezirksamt Lichtenberg). According to service.berlin.de, the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt), Alt-Friedrichsfelde 60, 10315 Berlin, is responsible (phone (030) 90296-6561, email [email protected]). Appointments can be made by email or by phone. The office does not list fixed opening hours on the portal page, so arrange an appointment early and have your addresses ready.

The procedure according to the state portal: an informal application is sufficient. The minimum fee is €21.00 and depends on scope and duration. Processing takes approx. 4 weeks on average. The authority issues an order; the traffic signs are put up by a specialist company.

The portal points out that the removal van must be able to stop outside both the old and the new flat. If someone moves from Rummelsburg to another district (or vice versa), apply for the zone at the responsible district in each case. State the street, house number, date and time. Especially on Rummelsburg Bay, where the shore, residential buildings and access roads are close together, it is worth describing the space in front of the building entrance precisely.

We support you with the planning, see parking restriction zone. You will find other neighbourhoods in the district under Lichtenberg.

Rummelsburg Bay, Paul und Paula Ufer and Friedrichs-Waisenhaus: residential areas in Rummelsburg

The Lichtenberg district office describes Rummelsburg as a neighbourhood on Rummelsburg Bay. In the mid-19th century, the Norddeutsche Eiswerke harvested natural ice here from the lake, which was then considered the cleanest body of water in Berlin; Carl von Linde's refrigeration machine put an end to this business. The shore is called Paul und Paula Ufer, named after the DEFA film whose famous love scene was shot by the lake.

Among the special features is the municipal Friedrichs-Waisenhaus orphanage, built between 1854 and 1859. Two of its boys' houses now contain flats, and according to the district office their original use is still recognisable. The former Rummelsburg prison also stood here. Today, according to the district office, townhouses and a small club scene characterise the bay.

For your move this means: between waterside townhouses and converted historic buildings, access, stairwell and lift differ from building to building. We measure this during the survey before calculating a quote. According to service.berlin.de, you must register within 14 days of moving in. This is free of charge, online or with an appointment at the Bürgeramt; landlords must confirm the move-in in writing, and a tenancy agreement does not replace the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung). According to its website, the BSR accepts up to three cubic metres of bulky waste free of charge at its recycling centres. A neighbouring area with large housing estates is Friedrichsfelde.

Always one step ahead.
