Key answers for your move in Berlin Falkenberg
Our vehicles usually reach Falkenberg via Falkenberger Chaussee from Neu-Hohenschönhausen, which continues as Dorfstraße in the village. For the free survey we arrange an appointment with you on site or, alternatively, by video.
Falkenberg at a glance: linear village, Gehrensee and open fields
With around 3,300 inhabitants, Falkenberg is one of the smallest neighbourhoods in the Lichtenberg district – a village-like corner of Berlin that stands out clearly from its densely built neighbouring areas. People who live here appreciate the detached houses with their own gardens, the wide open spaces of the Falkenberger Feldflur fields and Dorfstraße with the former estate grounds; the village church was blown up in April 1945. Praktik Transport und Umzüge, with the Beste Umzug brand, comes from Moabit and aligns its move planning with this character after a survey.
Falkenberg lies between Wartenberg, Neu-Hohenschönhausen, Marzahn and Ahrensfelde in Brandenburg; Malchow is not far away either. Falkenberger Chaussee from Neu-Hohenschönhausen continues through the village as Dorfstraße, followed by Ahrensfelder Chaussee to the east. Anyone moving here or away from here benefits from our checking the conditions in advance – from narrow access roads to individual plots to the requirements of modern new builds on the edge of the village.
As a moving company based in Berlin, we offer the full range of services for Falkenberg: from the classic home removal for families in their own homes and company relocations for the few businesses in the neighbourhood to special transports. As Falkenberg consists of an old village, detached houses and a new residential quarter, we plan every move individually – without off-the-peg standard solutions. We check the routes between Dorfstraße, the detached-house areas and the new-build quarter at Gehrensee in advance and calculate journey times realistically. This way we make sure your move into or out of Falkenberg runs smoothly, transparently and without nasty surprises – regardless of whether it involves a small terraced house or a larger farmstead.
Process and particular features of a move in Falkenberg
A move in Falkenberg differs noticeably from a move in densely built Berlin neighbourhoods. Instead of narrow rear courtyards and multi-storey period buildings, detached houses, semi-detached houses and occasional new builds at the transition to Neu-Hohenschönhausen dominate here. For us this means more space for loading and unloading, but also longer distances between house and vehicle, as many plots have larger front gardens or long driveways.
Public transport is rural in character: tram lines M4 and M17 terminate on the western edge of the village, and bus 197 runs from Prerower Platz to Mahlsdorf S-Bahn station; there is no U-Bahn or S-Bahn station in the neighbourhood itself. For our removal vehicles this means short but easily planned approach routes via Falkenberger Chaussee and Dorfstraße, which are also easily passable for larger furniture vans. Narrow cobbled streets, as known from period-building neighbourhoods, are the exception in Falkenberg – nevertheless there are some unpaved tracks to older farmsteads that require careful route planning.
Another difference: many households in Falkenberg have barns, garden sheds, garages and cellars that need to be taken into account in a move. Here a combined service of home removal and house clearance is often worthwhile, to empty outbuildings before the move or hand them over broom-clean after moving out. The season also plays a role: in spring and summer gardens are often planted, so we pay particular attention to lawns, flower beds and driveways when moving furniture. For families with elderly relatives we also offer the senior move, tailored to the particular needs of moving from a family home into a smaller, age-appropriate flat. Thanks to the survey in advance, our customers save time on planning and avoid unnecessary waiting on moving day.
Our moving services in the Falkenberg neighbourhood
For the village-like neighbourhood of Falkenberg, we have designed our range of services to cover both classic house moves and special requirements. The home removal forms the basis: we handle professional packing, transport and assembly of furniture in detached houses, semi-detached houses and the apartment buildings of the new-build quarter at Gehrensee. As many houses in Falkenberg have several floors, converted attics or cellar rooms, we factor in the effort for stairs and intermediate levels realistically from the start.
For businesses in Falkenberg and the neighbouring areas we offer company relocations – including planning outside business hours, so that operations are disrupted as little as possible. Anyone who only wants to transport single pieces of furniture or a few boxes, for example for a partial move or the delivery of new goods, benefits from our part load – an affordable alternative to a complete move.
Especially on older Falkenberg properties with barns, sheds or cluttered cellars, our house clearance is often used, for example when dissolving a household or before selling a property. If you own an upright or grand piano, our trained movers handle piano transport with the appropriate equipment and securing technology. After transport, our team ensures, as part of furniture assembly, that wall units, beds and kitchen furniture are professionally reassembled. This way Falkenberg customers receive all services from a single source, tailored to the village-like building structure of their neighbourhood.
No-parking zone and parking in Falkenberg
Compared with densely built inner-city Berlin neighbourhoods, the parking situation in Falkenberg is more relaxed overall: most plots have their own driveways, garages or parking spaces right by the house. Even so, there are situations in which a reserved space for the removal van makes sense – for example with narrower driveways, for moves in the new-build quarter at Gehrensee or when roadworks on Dorfstraße cause temporary narrowing.
In such cases we set up a no-parking zone on request. This ensures that space for our removal van is reserved right outside the front door or as close to the plot as possible on moving day – with no searching for parking and no long carrying distances across lawns or unpaved paths. The application is made to the Roads and Green Spaces Office of the Lichtenberg district office and is organised by us in good time before the moving date, so you do not have to worry about anything.
Especially for larger properties with long access routes, which are not unusual in Falkenberg, a no-parking zone can also save time and therefore costs, as our team has less distance to cover between vehicle and home. For moves into apartment buildings with limited parking, for example in the new-build quarter between Gehrensee and Ahrensfelder Chaussee, we also recommend enquiring early. For customers who are unsure whether a no-parking zone is necessary in their specific case, we give advice during the free moving survey – so the actual need can be assessed realistically without causing unnecessary extra costs.
Moving costs and fixed price for your move in Falkenberg
The moving costs for a move into or out of Falkenberg depend on several factors: the size of the house or flat, the number of rooms, the distance to the new home and any additional services such as house clearance or furniture assembly. As detached houses with gardens and outbuildings predominate in Falkenberg, we usually calculate the effort somewhat differently than for a classic period flat – factors such as cellar rooms, attics, garages or garden sheds are included in the quote.
You can find detailed information on typical price ranges, cost factors and ways to save on our page about moving costs in Berlin. As a rule: the earlier you plan your moving date and the more precise the information on living space, floors and additional services, the more accurately we can calculate a fixed price. Customers in Falkenberg receive this fixed price after a free survey on site or by video – so there are no hidden extra costs on moving day.
For Falkenberg, our quote also takes into account the somewhat greater distances within the neighbourhood and the approach via Falkenberger Chaussee and Dorfstraße. If you also need a house clearance of a barn or cellar or want a piano transported, these services are easily integrated into an overall quote. Combinations of home removal and furniture assembly can also be priced transparently. Our aim is to give you, as a Falkenberg customer, a fair, comprehensible quote that realistically reflects all the particular features of the neighbourhood – from the size of the house to the access – without any unexpected extra costs at the end.
Detached houses, period buildings and furniture lifts in Falkenberg
Unlike many other Lichtenberg neighbourhoods, Falkenberg has hardly any classic period buildings with stucco ceilings and narrow stairwells. Instead, detached houses, semi-detached houses and occasional new builds shape the picture – many of them with converted attics, cellars or extensions from different building eras. This brings its own challenges: steep stairs to attics, low cellar entrances or angled extensions often require just as much planning as a move in a multi-storey period building.
For bulky furniture, such as large wall units, beds with solid frames or pianos that cannot be transported safely over narrow stairs or steep attic access, we use a furniture lift. This allows transport up the façade and protects both the furniture and the often narrow stairwells and door frames of older Falkenberg houses. Especially when moving out of the upper floor of a converted attic or moving into the multi-storey new builds at Gehrensee, a furniture lift is often faster and gentler than classic transport via the stairs.
For customers moving from a Falkenberg detached house to a flat with or without a lift in neighbouring Neu-Hohenschönhausen, we also check carefully in advance which transport solution is suitable. After transport, as part of furniture assembly, we handle professional reassembly – from the bed frame to the fitted kitchen. Our advance check of the different house types in Falkenberg, from historic farmsteads to modern prefabricated houses, ensures that we have the right solution ready for every structural feature without damaging furniture or the building.
Popular moving routes from Falkenberg
From Falkenberg there are various typical moving routes that we often plan for our customers. Within the Lichtenberg district, many families move to the somewhat more urban neighbouring areas of Karlshorst or Friedrichsfelde, for example when the wish for better S-Bahn and tram connections grows. The route towards Rummelsburg, with its location on the Rummelsburger See, is also frequently booked, as are moves to the nearby neighbourhoods of Wartenberg and Malchow.
We also regularly see moves between Falkenberg and Berlin's inner city, for example to Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg or Friedrichshain, when young professionals move out of their parents' home into a flat of their own in the city. For these routes we carefully plan the journey times via Falkenberger Chaussee and the adjoining main roads in order to avoid rush-hour traffic jams and make moving day efficient.
As Falkenberg borders directly on Ahrensfelde in Brandenburg, moves across the Berlin city boundary are not unusual either – whether to the nearby Brandenburg countryside or to more distant federal states. For such routes we recommend our long-distance moves service, in which we plan long-distance transports just as reliably as the short trip within Lichtenberg. Whether moving within Falkenberg, to a neighbouring area or right across Germany: our dispatchers plan the route in advance and, depending on traffic and load size, choose the right vehicle and the most efficient route so that your belongings arrive safely and on time.
How booking your move in Falkenberg works – including a neighbourhood tip
We deliberately keep booking a move in Falkenberg straightforward. In the first step, you contact us via our contact form, by phone or by email and briefly describe your starting point: the size of the house or flat, the desired moving date and any special features such as an attic, cellar, piano or outbuildings. We then arrange a free survey – on site in Falkenberg or, if needed, by video call – to realistically assess the actual effort.
Based on this survey we prepare a transparent quote with a fixed price that already includes all the services you want, such as a home removal, house clearance of a barn or cellar, piano transport or furniture assembly. Once you confirm, we plan moving day in detail, organise a no-parking zone if needed and coordinate the approach via Falkenberger Chaussee and Dorfstraße with our team.
A little insider tip for everyone moving to Falkenberg or still discovering the neighbourhood: a walk along Dorfstraße to the estate grounds and the memorial wall of the Humboldt crypt at the former church square is well worth it – here the village history of the neighbourhood in the middle of the city of Berlin is particularly easy to trace. If you like cycling, you will also find quiet paths through the adjacent fields and meadows towards Wartenberg, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city. For your move this means: we bring you reliably to a place that combines peace and quiet with proximity to Berlin in a special way – from the first quote to the last piece of furniture assembled.
Applying for a no-parking zone in Berlin-Falkenberg: Lichtenberg Roads and Green Spaces Office
For a move in Berlin-Falkenberg, you apply for a no-parking zone at the Lichtenberg district. According to service.berlin.de, the responsible body there is the Roads and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt) at Alt-Friedrichsfelde 60, 10315 Berlin (telephone (030) 90296-6561). An informal application is enough; no special requirements are mentioned. State the moving date, time, house number and desired zone length; we determine the length together during the survey.
- Order instead of signs: the authority issues an order, but no traffic signs. According to the service portal, anyone without signs should contact a company that secures construction sites.
- Fee: minimum fee 21.00 euros, depending on scope and duration.
- Processing time: about four weeks on average.
Whether a no-parking zone is needed on your street at all depends on the access. If your house has its own driveway or yard access, the van may be able to stand on the property; you must clarify this with the owner. Decide this before applying if possible, because processing takes about four weeks. If no no-parking zone is needed, we plan loading and unloading via the property's driveway. If you are moving to Falkenberg from another district, apply for the zone for the old address at the authority there. Our guide to the no-parking zone describes the steps, and with our no-parking zone service you can hand the organisation over to us.
Moving in the village of Falkenberg: Dorfstraße, the Gehrensee estate and bulky waste
According to the Lichtenberg district office, Falkenberg is a linear village on the Barnim plateau laid out in the 13th century and was first mentioned in records on 26 June 1370. In 1875 the city of Berlin bought the estate for sewage farms, and in 1920 the village became part of the new Berlin district of Weißensee. Dorfstraße still shapes the village today: it is home, among other things, to the estate grounds, the former school opened in 1887 (now a nursery school) and the farm labourers' cottage built in 1820. The Gehrensee estate was built in the early 1930s, in 1939 Prelate Lichtenberg laid the foundation stone for the Catholic church of St. Konrad von Parzham, and in 2001 the animal shelter opened. Anyone moving here should have the access and route to the house checked in advance, because a village that has grown historically does not follow a uniform street grid.
When moving into a house, a furniture lift is worthwhile if the attic or upper floor is reached via narrow stairs. We clarify this during the survey. Give the street and house number precisely when you enquire so that we can check the access in advance.
Bulky waste: the BSR accepts smaller amounts of up to 3 cubic metres free of charge at its recycling centres. According to the BSR, collection at the standard rate costs 100 euros for up to 5 cubic metres. Neighbouring areas with their own pages are Malchow, Karlshorst and the Lichtenberg district.
