move without stress

Unsere Firma Moving help for villas, rented flats and offices between Lichterfelde West, Ost, Süd and Goerzallee.

For each part we plan team, vehicle and furniture lift differently.
We come from Moabit (Stromstraße 21) and look at every Lichterfelde address beforehand – on site or by video. We then put together packing service, student move, small transport and part-load to suit you and give you a fixed price with no later surcharges.

Questions about moving in Lichterfelde: villa colony, parking restriction, registration

Key answers for your move in Berlin Lichterfelde

Answers on narrow streets in Lichterfelde West, the parking restriction from the Steglitz-Zehlendorf road traffic authority, Gründerzeit villas and registration after moving in.

For narrow streets such as Ringstraße or Drakestraße we use compact removal vehicles and, if needed, set up a parking restriction zone directly in front of the property so that carrying distances stay short.

Lichterfelde West, Ost and Süd: the three parts at a glance

We are Praktik Transport und Umzüge with the brand Beste Umzug and plan your move in Lichterfelde from our base in Moabit (Stromstraße 21). According to the district office, this neighbourhood in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district has around 85,600 residents and is divided into Lichterfelde West, Lichterfelde Ost and Lichterfelde Süd – each part with its own buildings and its own requirements. Lichterfelde West, with the villa colony around Ringstraße, Drakestraße and Baseler Straße, goes back to Johann Anton Wilhelm von Carstenn and is considered Berlin's oldest villa quarter. Around Lichterfelde Ost station and along Hindenburgdamm there are apartment buildings, and in Lichterfelde Süd the Thermometersiedlung from 1968–1974, with high-rises of up to 22 storeys, shapes the scene.

We plan for this variety afresh at every address: cobbled paths in the villa colony, stairwells without a lift in period buildings on Curtiusstraße, long corridors and lifts in the high-rises. The S-Bahn stops at Lichterfelde West (S1) and at Lichterfelde Ost and Süd (S25, S26); for the lorry, Hindenburgdamm, Ostpreußendamm and Goerzallee are the main routes.

Whether a private move out of a villa, an office move in the business park on Goerzallee or a small part-load for a few pieces of furniture – you receive a fixed price after the survey. We plan moves to the neighbouring areas of Steglitz and Zehlendorf with the same care.

How a move in Lichterfelde works and what is special about it

A move in Lichterfelde differs noticeably depending on the location: in the Lichterfelde West villa colony, which goes back to the urban developer Johann Anton Wilhelm von Carstenn, many buildings are listed. Narrow, partly cobbled streets such as Drakestraße or Baseler Straße often do not allow large lorries to turn, which is why we frequently work here with more compact vehicles and optimised carrying-route plans. Front gardens, wrought-iron fences and historic stairwells call for extra care when moving furniture, so that neither the building nor the furniture is damaged.

In Lichterfelde Ost, for example around the S-Bahn station of the same name, and in parts of West on Curtiusstraße, classic Berlin period buildings with high ceilings predominate, but not always with a lift. Here we often use a furniture lift to carry out moves between floors without putting strain on the stairwell – a service closely linked to our furniture assembly, so that wardrobes and shelves are properly reassembled at the destination.

Lichterfelde Süd, with the Thermometersiedlung – a large estate from 1968–1974 on Osdorfer Straße – brings its own requirements: long corridors, lifts that must be free on moving day, and limited stopping space. Especially for household dissolutions or settling an estate, a prior survey makes sense in order to assess effort and costs realistically.

Our approach is structured the same way in every part of Lichterfelde: first a free assessment on site or by video, then the planning of parking restriction zones, parking options and time windows, and finally the move itself with trained staff. This way we minimise waiting times, searching for parking and unnecessary extra costs – regardless of whether it is a compact one-room move or the complete clearance of a villa.

Our moving services in the Lichterfelde neighbourhood

As a Berlin moving company, we offer a full range of services in Lichterfelde, tailored to the typical forms of housing in the neighbourhood. For families and individuals moving from a period flat on Curtiusstraße into a terraced house near the Gutspark, our private move is the right solution – including packing service, transport and assembly at the new home. Businesses based in the business park on Goerzallee or in smaller office units in Lichterfelde Ost benefit from our office move service, which is designed for minimal downtime and discreet handling outside business hours.

Not every move needs a full lorry: if you only want to transport individual pieces of furniture, a piano or seasonal items, you can use our part-load service and save noticeably on costs. In Lichterfelde West's villas in particular there are often valuable grand or upright pianos that require careful piano transport with special securing, ramps and trained staff – an area in which our Praktik teams work with particular care.

When moving out of a multi-generational house or clearing an estate in one of the historic villas, we offer a structured clearance in which valuable items are sorted, bulky waste is disposed of properly and rooms are handed over broom-clean. For older residents moving, for example, from a large flat near Lichterfelde West S-Bahn station into a step-free flat in Lichterfelde Süd, our considerate senior move is designed to put calm, care and personal support first. Finally, on request we also take care of complete furniture assembly so that beds, wardrobes and shelving systems are ready for use straight away.

Parking restriction zone and parking for your move in Lichterfelde

Parking space is a central issue in moving planning in many parts of Lichterfelde. In the Lichterfelde West villa colony, streets such as Ringstraße or Drakestraße are often narrow, lined with old trees and heavily occupied by residents' parking. Without a reserved space directly in front of the door, the carrying distance for moving boxes and furniture increases considerably, which costs time and therefore money. For this reason we recommend applying early for a parking restriction zone for moves in this area, which we organise completely for our customers – including signage, the application to the responsible Steglitz-Zehlendorf road traffic authority and putting up the signs in good time before the moving date.

Parking pressure is also high around Lichterfelde West, Ost and Süd stations and along busy roads such as Ostpreußendamm or Osdorfer Straße, especially at peak times. A reserved stopping space here gives the removal van unobstructed access directly in front of the entrance, which is essential especially for bulky furniture, piano transport or the use of a furniture lift.

In the residential complexes of Lichterfelde Süd, such as the Thermometersiedlung, the paths from the street to the entrance are sometimes long and parking is further restricted by private parking areas. Here, too, a cordoned-off area set up in advance is worthwhile so that moving day is not delayed by searching for parking.

Our team takes care of the entire organisation of the parking restriction zone in good time before the moving date, so you do not have to deal with applications, deadlines or coordination with the road traffic authority yourself. That way your move in Lichterfelde is predictable from the start and free of unwelcome surprises on loading day.

Moving costs in Lichterfelde: transparent and at a fixed price

The moving costs for a move in Lichterfelde depend on several factors: the living space, the floor, the accessibility of the property and the distance to the destination. A compact move from a two-room flat near Lichterfelde Ost S-Bahn station differs considerably in price from clearing a multi-storey villa on Ringstraße with an attic, cellar and large garden. You will find detailed sample calculations and guide values for Berlin on our page on moving costs in Berlin, which serves as orientation for your individual planning.

At Praktik Transport und Umzüge you receive a binding fixed-price quote after a free survey – in person on site or by video call. It already includes staff, vehicle, kilometres and agreed additional services such as packing material, furniture assembly or setting up a parking restriction zone. This completely rules out surprise extra charges on moving day, which provides planning certainty especially for larger projects such as an office move or a complete household dissolution.

Factors that specifically influence the costs in Lichterfelde include:

  • Whether there is a lift in period buildings along Curtiusstraße or Hindenburgdamm
  • Access options in narrow villa streets such as Baseler Straße
  • The need for a furniture lift for upper floors without a lift
  • The extent of clearance in household dissolutions
  • Additional services such as piano transport or a senior move with special support

We recommend getting a personal quote early, as individual features can have a direct impact on the price, particularly in the villa colony and for listed properties.

Period buildings, villas and furniture lifts: moving in historic buildings

Lichterfelde West is considered one of the oldest planned villa colonies in Germany, built from 1865 onwards to plans by Johann Anton Wilhelm von Carstenn. Many of the magnificent villas along Ringstraße, Drakestraße and Baseler Straße are listed today. For a move this means narrow, often historic stairwells, delicate wooden floors and sometimes tight door frames that call for a particularly delicate touch when moving furniture. Our teams are prepared to reliably secure edges, banisters and wall panelling with protective blankets and edge guards.

Around Lichterfelde Ost station, on Curtiusstraße and along Hindenburgdamm, Berlin period buildings with stucco façades shape the streetscape. Many of these buildings were built before lifts became mandatory, so moves to the third or fourth floor can hardly be carried out sensibly without technical aids. This is where our furniture lift regularly comes in, carrying bulky items such as wardrobes, sofas or pianos safely and without damaging the stairwell directly up to the window of the respective floor.

The Thermometersiedlung in Lichterfelde Süd is quite different: a large prefabricated-panel estate from 1968–1974 with high-rises of up to 22 storeys, where lift times and walking routes require careful advance planning. After transport we take care of complete furniture assembly on request, so that beds, kitchen units and shelving systems are reassembled properly and securely at the new location – an important element for a thoroughly successful result, especially in period flats with irregular wall dimensions.

If you are clearing a larger villa or an apartment building, you also benefit from our clearance service, in which attics, cellars and outbuildings are cleared properly without damaging the historic fabric.

Popular moving routes from Lichterfelde

Thanks to its location in the south of Berlin, Lichterfelde is the starting point for many moves within the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district and beyond. We particularly often handle moves to Steglitz, for example to the area around Schloßstraße, as many residents of the Lichterfelde West villa colony want to move closer to the shopping street as they get older. Moves to Zehlendorf are also in demand; with its similarly green, villa-dominated character, it is an obvious choice for families from Lichterfelde.

Students and university staff often settle between Lichterfelde and Dahlem because of the proximity to the Freie Universität Berlin. Those who want to live right by the water often move on towards Wannsee or Nikolassee, both directly reachable from Lichterfelde West on the S1. The route to neighbouring Lankwitz, directly east of Lichterfelde, is also one of the frequently requested short routes – for example when switching from a villa to a more compact new-build flat.

Via the junctions to the city motorway and the nearby AVUS route, Lichterfelde is also well connected to the national road network, which makes long-distance moves easier. Whether a move to Potsdam, to another federal state or right across Germany – on our page on long-distance moves you can find out how we plan longer routes reliably, with liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and at a fixed price. Our advance planning ensures that even the first kilometres from the loading point run smoothly and without loss of time.

How to book your move in Lichterfelde – including an insider tip

Booking your move in Lichterfelde with Praktik Transport und Umzüge follows clearly structured steps. First, you contact us by phone, email or via our online form and briefly describe key details such as the size of the flat, the floor and your preferred date. We then arrange a free survey – in person in the villa colony, in the period building on Curtiusstraße or conveniently by video call. On this basis we prepare a binding fixed-price quote covering all services from packing and transport to furniture assembly.

Once the order is confirmed, we take care of organisational details in good time, such as setting up a parking restriction zone in the narrow streets of the villa colony or coordinating a furniture lift for period buildings without a lift. On moving day itself our trained team handles the entire process – from proper packing and safe transport to assembly at the destination, whether within Lichterfelde or on a longer long-distance route.

A little insider tip for everyone new to Lichterfelde: the Gutshaus Lichterfelde, a neoclassical country house from around 1780, and the Giesensdorf village church on Ostpreußendamm tell of the villages from which Lichterfelde grew. In Lichterfelde Süd, the Fliegeberg, from which Otto Lilienthal launched his gliding flights, is worth a visit. If you are looking for water, take a walk along the Teltow Canal. Places like these are well worth it for relaxing after a strenuous moving day and getting to know your new neighbourhood.

Whether a private move, a senior move or an office move – get in touch with us early so that we can reserve your preferred date in Lichterfelde and prepare all the organisational details in good time.

Parking restriction for your move in Lichterfelde: Steglitz-Zehlendorf road traffic authority

The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office is responsible for Lichterfelde. According to the district office, its road traffic authority orders, among other things, temporary parking restrictions for moves. For a moving parking restriction, service.berlin.de states: informal application, minimum fee €21.00 depending on scope and duration, processing time about four weeks; the authority does not supply signs.

The district office lists the following for the road traffic authority:

  • Office address: Unter den Eichen 1, 12203 Berlin (postal address: 14160 Berlin)
  • Office hours: Thursdays from 9 am to 12 noon and by appointment
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Applications for special use of public road space should be submitted online via the website of the responsible Senate Department.

According to the district office, the office address is not wheelchair-accessible; if you want to visit in person, it is better to arrange an appointment in advance or send an email. The district page does not itself state lead times and fees, so the information from the state portal applies. Submit the application as completely as possible, because queries prolong processing. Allow at least four weeks and submit the application as soon as the street and date are fixed. For questions about the order, the authority's email address is the most reliable route if the office hours do not suit you.

In the application, state the street, house number, date, time and the desired length of the area. The page parking restriction zone describes how we plan the application, signage and moving date together.

Lichterfelde West, Ost and Süd: villa colony and Gründerzeit villas

According to the district office, Lichterfelde covers 1,822 hectares and has 85,631 residents. Around 1865 the entrepreneur Johann Anton Wilhelm von Carstenn bought estates in Giesensdorf and Lichterfelde in order to lay out a colony of country houses and villas. The district office distinguishes three parts:

  • Lichterfelde West: founded in 1860, considered Berlin's oldest villa quarter; it is characterised by Gründerzeit villas, large gardens, small tree-lined avenues and cobbled streets.
  • Lichterfelde Ost: laid out as a villa colony on a similar pattern, more heavily damaged in the Second World War.
  • Lichterfelde Süd: home to the Fliegeberg, from which Otto Lilienthal launched his gliding flights.

The streets named by the district office include Ostpreußendamm (formerly Berliner Straße) and Königin-Luise-Straße by the Botanic Garden. For moves this is above all a question of access: cobbled streets lined with trees, garden paths and villa stairwells call for arrangements in advance. During the survey we check carrying distances, stairs and where the lorry can stand, and plan the team accordingly. Among the places highlighted by the district office are the Botanic Garden, covering around 43 hectares, and the Gutshaus Lichterfelde, a listed neoclassical country house built around 1780. After moving in, you register within 14 days (service.berlin.de).

For moves in the neighbourhood: moving in Steglitz and the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district.

Always one step ahead.
