Moving company for Wittenau

Moves in Wittenau: between the fieldstone church and the U8

move stress-free

Unsere Firma Moving help for period buildings, estate houses and housing complexes in Wittenau – planned from Moabit.
Until 1905 Wittenau was called Dalldorf; on the Alt-Wittenau green stand the 15th-century fieldstone church and houses from the 19th century. For a private move, office move or furniture transport, this means narrow stairs and tight courtyards there, often without a lift.
Alongside these there is the former French housing complex Cité Foch and the Yellow and Blue estates (Gelbe und Blaue Siedlung) by Triftpark. We plan packing service, small transports and part loads building by building – driving out from our base at Stromstraße 21 in Moabit.

Moving in Wittenau: period buildings on the green, estates and housing complexes

The neighbourhood of Wittenau in the Berlin district of Reinickendorf combines village charm around the historic core of Alt-Wittenau with housing estates such as Cité Foch and the Yellow and Blue estates by Triftpark. Under the Beste Umzug brand, Praktik Transport und Umzüge plans moves in Wittenau from Stromstraße 21 in Moabit and checks the tight courtyards of the period buildings in advance, as well as the access roads to the estates. Whether you are moving from Wittenau U-Bahn station (U8) into a new-build area or planning a long-distance move from the S1 at Wittenau station – we organise your move on schedule and reliably.

Wittenau borders Waidmannslust to the north, Tegel to the west, Borsigwalde to the south, the neighbourhood of Reinickendorf to the south-east and the Märkisches Viertel to the east, which belonged to Wittenau until 1999. A survey in advance helps us to realistically assess access routes, apply for parking restriction zones in good time and organise the furniture transport smoothly even with difficult access in courtyards on Roedernallee or Eichborndamm.

Our team handles private moves in one- and two-room flats as well as larger households in family homes near the Wittenau village church. From the first survey to the last box in your new home, we are at your side as a dependable contact and make sure that your move in Wittenau is stress-free.

Moving in Wittenau: the process and typical challenges

A move in Wittenau comes with some local features that we take into account on every job. In the historic village core around Alt-Wittenau there are often period buildings with narrow stairwells and tight courtyard passages in which a large moving van cannot simply turn. Here we plan the drive precisely, check the width of the access in advance and, if necessary, use smaller vehicles to avoid damage to façades or parked cars.

The situation is quite different in the newer housing complexes such as Cité Foch: here multi-storey blocks from the 1960s and 1970s dominate, often with a lift but also with heavily used loading zones. Traffic on Oranienburger Straße and Eichborndamm can be heavy at peak times, which is why we prefer to schedule moving dates outside the morning and evening rush hours. It is also busy during the day around Wittenau S-Bahn and U-Bahn station, which we factor into our scheduling from the outset.

For families with children, who often live near the schools on Roedernallee, as well as for seniors living in the quiet terraced houses of the Yellow estate by Triftpark, we offer a careful seniors' move with particular consideration for mobility and personal belongings. As a rule, every move in Wittenau begins with a free assessment on site or by video, so that we can realistically calculate vehicle size, staff requirements and any parking restriction zones. This way we avoid unpleasant surprises on the moving day and ensure a smooth process – from the first box to the last screw in the new shelf.

Our moving services for Wittenau at a glance

As a moving company working across the whole district of Reinickendorf, we offer a comprehensive range of services in Wittenau, tailored to the different types of housing in the neighbourhood. Whether it is a period flat on Roedernallee, a terraced house by Triftpark or office space in a commercial courtyard on Eichborndamm – our teams adapt flexibly.

  • Private move: the classic flat move within Wittenau or to a neighbouring area, including packing, transport and assembly.
  • Business move: for offices and practices along Oranienburger Straße, we plan the move so that business is hardly interrupted.
  • Part load: an affordable alternative to a whole moving van for smaller moving volumes or single pieces of furniture.
  • Clearance: before moving out of older Wittenau flats or cellars, we clear them reliably and properly.
  • Piano transport: especially in period buildings with narrow stairwells, our trained carriers take care of moving upright and grand pianos safely.
  • Furniture assembly: dismantling and assembling wardrobes, beds and kitchens so that you can move straight into your new flat.

In addition, on request we organise a parking restriction zone so that there is enough space for our van right outside the front door on the moving day. All services can be combined individually, so that as a customer in Wittenau you book exactly the package that suits your move – from transport alone to an all-inclusive service with packing, assembly and disposal.

Parking restriction zones and parking for your move in Wittenau

Parking should not be underestimated when moving in Wittenau. Around Alt-Wittenau the streets have grown historically and are correspondingly narrow, so in many places only a few parking spaces are available anyway. If you move here without a reserved space, you risk long carrying distances or blocked access. Around Wittenau S-Bahn and U-Bahn station and in the housing complexes with many residents' vehicles, free parking is also often scarce on the moving day.

For this reason, we offer setting up a parking restriction zone as a standard part of our service. We take care of the application to the road traffic authority of the Reinickendorf district office, put up the signs in good time before the moving date and thus make sure our moving van can stand right outside the door – whether on Roedernallee, Eichborndamm or in one of the quieter side streets near the village church. This not only saves time but also reduces the risk of scratches to furniture from long carrying distances across the street.

Especially near Wittenau station and along busy Oranienburger Straße, we recommend applying for the parking restriction zone about four weeks in advance – according to Service Berlin, that is how long processing takes on average – as delivery traffic and buses also have to respect reserved spaces here. For customers in new-build areas with their own underground car park or allocated parking space the effort is lower, but here too we check the access height and turning options for our vehicles in advance. This way we make sure that the moving day in Wittenau is not burdened by searching for parking or conflicts with residents, but runs efficiently and smoothly.

Moving costs in Wittenau: transparent fixed prices instead of unpleasant surprises

The moving costs in Wittenau depend on several factors: the size of the flat, the distance to the new home, moving between floors with or without a lift and any extra services needed, such as furniture assembly or clearance. A move from a small period flat on Roedernallee to a flat of similar size in the Märkisches Viertel differs considerably in price from a long-distance move with a large household.

So that you can plan from the outset, we work with transparent fixed prices, which we determine after a free survey on site or by video consultation. On our page on moving costs in Berlin you will find a detailed overview of the price factors and guide values that also apply to Wittenau. As a rule, the following points are factored into the calculation:

  • Number of rooms and estimated moving volume
  • Floor and whether there is a lift, for example in the Cité Foch housing complexes
  • Whether a parking restriction zone is needed in narrow old streets
  • Extra services such as piano transport, clearance or furniture assembly
  • Distance to the destination, whether within Reinickendorf or as a long-distance move to another federal state

For customers who only want to have individual pieces of furniture transported, a part load is often worthwhile, as it is considerably cheaper than a whole moving van. If, on the other hand, you are relocating a larger household from a terraced house by Triftpark, you benefit from our fixed-price quote, which includes all the agreed services with no hidden extra costs. This way you keep control of your budget, whether it is a small move within Wittenau or a larger move beyond the district boundaries.

Period buildings, estate houses and housing complexes: furniture lifts and moving between floors in Wittenau

Wittenau has a colourful mix of housing types, each placing its own demands on a move. In the village core around Alt-Wittenau there are numerous period buildings with attractive but narrow stairwells, where bulky items such as wardrobes, sofas or pianos hardly fit round the tight bends. Here we use our furniture lift where needed, with which we move furniture safely over the balcony or through the window without damaging the stairwell or door frames.

Things look different in the newer housing complexes, for example in Cité Foch: these buildings usually have lifts, so a classic move between floors without a furniture lift is possible. However, the lifts are often not designed for large pieces of furniture, which is why we dismantle wardrobes and beds in advance and reassemble them properly after the transport. Our furniture assembly service covers exactly this need and means you do not have to reach for a screwdriver and Allen key yourself at your new home.

For the family homes and semi-detached houses often found in the quieter side streets away from the main roads, we also plan in the removal of cellar contents and garden sheds – here an accompanying clearance is often a good idea, for example when items that are no longer needed are left behind when moving out. Whether period building, terraced house or housing complex: our team brings the right tools to move every type of home in Wittenau safely and efficiently.

Popular moving routes from Wittenau within Berlin and beyond

Many of the moves we carry out from Wittenau lead to the directly neighbouring areas of the district of Reinickendorf. Families particularly often move between Wittenau and the Märkisches Viertel, for example when more living space is needed or, conversely, a more compact flat is wanted. The route from Wittenau U-Bahn station towards Tegel, for example near the lake, is also a popular route that we drive regularly.

Those who prefer peace and quiet often move on towards Frohnau with its villa-like plots or to Hermsdorf, which is well connected to Wittenau via the S1 S-Bahn line. The village-like neighbourhoods of Lübars and Konradshöhe, close to fields and the Havel respectively, are also among the popular destinations for families who want to move from more densely built Wittenau into greener surroundings.

Besides these moves within Reinickendorf, we also regularly handle moves to Berlin-Mitte, Pankow or Spandau, which are easy to reach via Oranienburger Straße and the city motorway. For customers leaving Wittenau altogether and moving to another federal state, for example back to their home region or for work, we offer reliable long-distance moves – including precise scheduling so that your household arrives on time at your new home. Whether it is a short distance within the neighbourhood or a long drive across Germany: we plan every route from Wittenau in advance so that your furniture arrives safely and undamaged.

Booking a move in Wittenau: process, dates and a tip for afterwards

Booking your move in Wittenau with us is straightforward. First, you contact us via our contact form or by phone and give us the key details: size of your flat, current address – for example near Wittenau station or on Roedernallee – and the area you want to move to. We then arrange an appointment for a free survey on site or by video call, during which we assess the moving volume, possible bottlenecks in the stairwell and the need for a parking restriction zone.

Based on this assessment, you receive a transparent fixed-price quote covering all the services discussed, such as a private move, business move or seniors' move. Once you confirm, we firmly reserve the date you want in our calendar and agree the final details with you, such as the exact number of movers or the packing material needed.

As a little tip for the waiting time between moving out and moving in, we recommend a walk across the green with the historic fieldstone Wittenau village church in Alt-Wittenau – a quiet place amid the bustle of the moving day to catch your breath. If you still have energy once the work is done, Triftpark between the Yellow and Blue estates offers a chance for a stroll in the green. For us, short breaks like these are just as much part of a successful move as transporting your furniture on time. Contact us in good time so that we can reserve your preferred date in Wittenau for you.

Parking restriction for your move in Wittenau: applying to the Reinickendorf district office

If you need to park a moving van outside your house in Wittenau, you apply for a temporary parking restriction to the road traffic authority of the district of Reinickendorf. According to the Berlin ServicePortal, it is part of the Roads and Green Spaces Office and is located at Eichborndamm 215, 13437 Berlin (postal address: Eichborndamm 242). You can reach it on (030) 90294-2939 or by email at [email protected].

The application is informal; the ServicePortal lists no special requirements. The average processing time is about four weeks, so submit the application in good time. The fee is at least €21.00 and depends on the scope and duration of the parking restriction. The authority issues the order but does not supply any traffic signs. These must be put up by a commissioned company, for example a site safety company, which is generally allowed to set up traffic signs.

In the application, describe as precisely as possible in front of which house and over what length the van is to stand and on which day the move takes place. In Alt-Wittenau and around Eichborndamm, it is worth checking in advance where there is actually space for loading and unloading. Information as of: October 2026.

How we support you with setting up the zone is described on the parking restriction zone page. You will find an overview of the district under Moving in Reinickendorf.

Alt-Wittenau, Wilhelmsruher Damm and the town hall: residential areas in Wittenau

According to the Reinickendorf district office, Wittenau covers 5.9 km² and has 20,460 inhabitants. The historic centre is the Alt-Wittenau village green with its old trees. Eichborndamm, part of a medieval trade route from Berlin to Bernau, crosses the green, and the street Alt-Wittenau encircles it. The houses at Alt-Wittenau 31 to 42 and 54a to 69 date from the 19th century, and some have late-classicist stucco façades. The fieldstone village church (built around 1480) is the oldest surviving building in the area.

Transport links matter for your planning: since 1994 Wittenau has had the U8 stations Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik, Rathaus Reinickendorf and Wittenau. The S1 and S85 also stop at Wittenau S-Bahn station, and the S25 stops just beyond the boundary at Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik station. Reinickendorf town hall (built in 1910/11 by Friedrich Beyer) has a 55-metre tower and is an easily recognisable landmark. According to the district office, the tax office and the police administration, among others, are located on the street Am Nordgraben; industry settled along Eichborndamm from the turn of the century onwards.

For 19th-century period buildings, we check the stairwell, carrying routes and access during the survey before we quote a price. You will find other neighbourhoods in the district under Märkisches Viertel, Lübars and Borsigwalde.

Always one step ahead.
