Key answers for your move in Berlin Charlottenburg-Nord
Yes, we try to schedule short-notice requests for Charlottenburg-Nord too, subject to availability, but we recommend booking early, especially if you need a parking restriction zone.
Charlottenburg-Nord: a neighbourhood in its own right since 2004, between Jungfernheide and Siemensstadt
For moves in Charlottenburg-Nord, the team from Praktik Transport und Umzüge (brand Beste Umzug) comes from neighbouring Moabit. Only in 2004 was Charlottenburg-Nord separated from Charlottenburg as a neighbourhood in its own right – to this day it is shaped by post-war modernism, generous green spaces around the Volkspark Jungfernheide and good transport links via Jungfernheide station with the U7, S41, S42 and regional trains. Whether you are moving from a flat on Heilmannring to a larger family flat, switching from Toeplerstraße to Westend or relocating an office towards Siemensstadt – we organise your home move or company relocation reliably, transparently and at a fixed price after a survey.
Before every move we clarify which access roads in the row-block estates are narrow and where the removal van can sensibly stop. The neighbouring areas include Charlottenburg and Westend, to which many of our customers from Charlottenburg-Nord move. Whether a one-room flat, a family household or a commercial unit – our team plans every move individually, carries out an on-site survey on request and ensures a smooth process on moving day, from packing to reassembling the furniture. We rely on a planned team, high-quality packing materials and vehicles suited to the often narrower access roads of the estate. This way, moves in the densely built post-war quarter do not become logistical adventures but well-thought-out projects that we support with planning and local knowledge – from the first enquiry to the last box.
Moving in Charlottenburg-Nord: process and particularities of the post-war estate
In terms of urban planning, the Charlottenburg-Nord neighbourhood differs considerably from the late-19th-century neighbourhoods in the south of the district. The framework plan developed after the Second World War with the involvement of Hans Scharoun still shapes the picture today: loosely arranged row blocks, point tower blocks and plenty of greenery along Goebelstraße, Toeplerstraße and Heilmannring. For a move, this means challenges that differ from those in a period building: wide but sometimes winding access roads, large inner courtyards with limited turning space for lorries, and entrances that are not always directly on the street. Our team therefore plans the exact approach and the parking position of the removal van in advance, so that no time is lost on moving day.
Many flats in the estate buildings of the 1950s and 1960s have simple lifts or no lift at all, which makes transporting bulky furniture more difficult. This is where our furniture assembly and, if necessary, the furniture lift come in, so that wardrobes, beds and sofas get up or down safely and without damaging the stairwell walls. The proximity to the Volkspark Jungfernheide and the Kurt-Schumacher-Damm also plays a role in route planning, for example when removal vans have to park temporarily at short notice. Anyone moving from a flat in Charlottenburg-Nord to a period building in Wilmersdorf or a villa in Grunewald benefits from a survey that takes the very different types of building within one and the same district into account. This way we plan every move precisely according to building type, floor and access situation.
Moving services in Charlottenburg-Nord: what our removal company takes care of for you
Our range of services as a removal company in Charlottenburg-Nord covers practically every need that a home or company move in this neighbourhood brings with it. For private households we take care of the complete home move, from a one-room flat to a family house, including packing, transport and assembly at the new home. Businesses based in the office and commercial spaces around Jungfernheide station appreciate our company relocation with the shortest possible business interruptions and moves at weekends or in the evening.
As many households in Charlottenburg-Nord fill cellar compartments, attics or garages along the estate streets over the years, we also offer professional house clearance – ideal before a move or when dissolving a household. Anyone who only wants to transport single pieces of furniture or a few boxes, for example when changing flats within the neighbourhood, will find a low-cost alternative to a complete removal van in our part-load transport. We transport particularly valuable or delicate items such as upright and grand pianos with special equipment as part of our piano transport – a process that requires care and the right technique, especially in buildings without a lift.
After transport, we take care of professional reassembly on request as part of our furniture assembly, so that shelves, beds and kitchen units are ready for use straight away. For older residents of the estate who need a particularly considerate and well-planned process, our senior move is available, with additional support and help with formalities at the authorities and re-registration. This way you get all services from a single source, precisely matched to the conditions in Charlottenburg-Nord.
Parking restriction zones and parking during a move in Charlottenburg-Nord
Parking in Charlottenburg-Nord is generally more relaxed than in densely built period-building neighbourhoods, but there are still a few things to bear in mind when moving. Along Heilmannring, Goebelstraße and Toeplerstraße there is usually enough parking space, but on working days many spaces are taken by residents and people working in the nearby commercial areas. If you want to be sure of being able to load and unload directly outside the front door on moving day, you should have a parking restriction zone applied for early. We take care of the entire application with the road traffic authority of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office, see to the signage a few days before the moving date and thus ensure that the removal van can stand right at the entrance without long carrying distances.
Especially with the estate's point tower blocks and row blocks, with their sometimes set-back entrances, a reserved loading zone makes the difference between a stressful and a relaxed moving day. We also recommend a parking restriction zone for moves into office buildings or commercial units near the station, so as not to block delivery traffic and customer parking. For moves beyond the neighbourhood boundary, for example to Halensee or Schmargendorf, we also check the parking situation at the destination and apply for a parking restriction zone there too if necessary. This way you avoid duplicate trips, fines for wrongly parked vehicles and unnecessary loss of time – a little organisational effort in advance that makes a noticeable difference on moving day.
Moving costs in Charlottenburg-Nord: transparent prices instead of nasty surprises
As everywhere in Berlin, moving costs in Charlottenburg-Nord depend on several factors: the size of the flat, the floor, whether there is a lift, the distance to the new home and the scope of services required. A two-room flat on the third floor without a lift in a row block on Goebelstraße involves different effort than a move from a modern new build with a lift near Jungfernheide station. So that you can plan from the start, we work with a fixed price, which we calculate bindingly after a free survey or on the basis of your details – without hidden surcharges for floors, boxes or travel time.
On our page on moving costs in Berlin you will also find general guide prices and sample calculations that give you an initial idea before you request an individual quote. If you need additional services such as house clearance, piano transport or a parking restriction zone, you receive these as transparently listed items in the overall quote, so there are no surprises. Combinations are also possible, for example if a flat is to be cleared or a business location relocated at the same time as the move.
For moves within the district, for example to Westend or near the Kaiserdamm, we calculate the route realistically and without unnecessary detours. For longer distances or a long-distance move out of Charlottenburg-Nord, we also take waiting times, tolls and the vehicle size into account in the calculation. This way you receive a quote that fits your move exactly and gives you planning certainty from the very first calculation.
Period buildings, new builds and furniture lifts: moving in the estate buildings of Charlottenburg-Nord
Unlike in many other neighbourhoods of the district, it is not period buildings that dominate in Charlottenburg-Nord, but the architecture of post-war modernism. Row blocks with three to five storeys, loosely arranged point tower blocks and a few more recent new builds shape the streetscape around Heilmannring, Goebelstraße and Toeplerstraße. Many of these buildings were built without a lift, as they were originally planned with a modest number of storeys. For a move this means stairwells with tight turns, narrow landings and door widths that should be measured precisely before the large wardrobe or the sofa is carried up the stairs.
Where moving items inside via the stairwell is not practicable, we specifically use a furniture lift, which conveys bulky items safely up or down via the balcony or window – quickly, gently and without scratches on freshly painted stairwell walls. In the few new builds with a modern lift, on the other hand, the move is much less complicated, but we still reserve the lift in good time so that it is available exclusively for your transport on moving day. After transport, our team makes sure as part of our furniture assembly that shelves, beds and wardrobes are reassembled straight away, even in the often somewhat smaller floor plans of the estate flats.
Especially for older residents who have lived in the estate's flats for many years and are now moving to a low-barrier flat or assisted living, our senior move offers particularly gentle support, including help with sorting, packing and organising everything around moving day.
Popular moving routes from Charlottenburg-Nord
Many moves out of Charlottenburg-Nord initially stay within the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district, as residents often value the familiar infrastructure. Our customers particularly often move to the livelier Charlottenburg neighbourhood, characterised by period buildings and close to Charlottenburg Palace and the Kurfürstendamm, or to green Westend with its villas around the Olympic Stadium. Those who like it even quieter and greener find a new home in Grunewald or Schmargendorf, while Wilmersdorf and Halensee, with good links to the Kurfürstendamm, are also popular destinations.
Via the A100 city ring and the Kaiserdamm, these destinations can usually be reached from Charlottenburg-Nord in a short time, which also has a positive effect on our cost calculation. For smaller transports on these routes, such as moving a furnished room or single pieces of furniture, our part-load transport is often recommended as a low-cost solution. In addition to moves within Berlin, we also regularly handle long-distance moves from Charlottenburg-Nord to other federal states or to other European countries, for example when a new job or family reasons require leaving Berlin. We plan the route via the nearby motorway junctions, calculate journey times realistically and ensure a seamless transition between moving out in Charlottenburg-Nord and moving in at the new home.
Whether the move ends just a few streets away or several hundred kilometres away: our survey of the different types of buildings in the district – from the estate to the period building to the villa – ensures that we have the right solution ready for every route and every destination flat.
Booking a move in Charlottenburg-Nord: process, dates and a local insider tip
Booking a move with our removal company in Charlottenburg-Nord is straightforward: after your enquiry by phone, email or our contact form, we arrange an on-site survey if needed, for example in your flat on Heilmannring or in your office near Jungfernheide station. You then receive a detailed, transparent fixed-price quote that covers all the services you want – from transport only to furniture assembly and a parking restriction zone. As soon as the date is set, our team takes care of ordering materials, planning vehicles and, if necessary, applying for parking permits in good time before moving day.
On moving day itself we take care of professionally packing delicate items, transport through the sometimes narrow stairwells of the estate buildings and reassembly in the new flat. For household liquidations, or if bulky waste and old items are left behind when moving out, we are happy to add a house clearance to the move, so that the old flat can be handed over swept clean.
A little insider tip for anyone who wants to get to know Charlottenburg-Nord better: the Volkspark Jungfernheide, with its lawns, open-air pool and quiet paths around the Jungfernheideteich, is an ideal place to take a breather after a strenuous moving day before the first boxes are unpacked. A walk along the quieter side streets of the estate also shows how much greenery and space this often underestimated neighbourhood between Charlottenburg and Siemensstadt has to offer. We look forward to supporting you professionally with your move into, out of or within Charlottenburg-Nord.
Parking restrictions in Charlottenburg-Nord: street, estate grounds and application
Whether you need a parking restriction in Charlottenburg-Nord depends on where the van stands. For public road space, you apply to the road traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsbehörde) of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. According to the Berlin service portal, an informal application is sufficient; the authority issues an order, but no signs. These are put up by a firm specialising in roadworks safety.
- Minimum fee: 21.00 euros, depending on scope and duration.
- Processing time: about four weeks on average.
- Authority: According to the district's website, the district's road traffic authority is responsible for "parking restrictions for building sites, moves and temporary delivery work".
According to the district office, the neighbourhood consists of housing estates whose buildings stand "freely in relation to one another", without a direct connection to the street. Residential complexes therefore often have paths, courtyards or parking areas on their grounds. The road traffic authority's order does not automatically apply to such areas; ask your property management or landlord whether and where the van may stop and whether the lift can be reserved for the move. Reserve the lift and access in writing if possible and have the confirmation to hand on moving day. You should make this arrangement before applying, so that the length and position of the zone are right. Our parking restriction zone service and the step-by-step guide help with planning.
The large estate, Paul-Hertz-Siedlung and Siemensstadt: moving in Charlottenburg-Nord
Charlottenburg-Nord has been a neighbourhood in its own right since the resolution of the district council of 30 September 2004. According to the district office, it includes the listed large Charlottenburg-Nord housing estate (1956–1961), which lies between Geißlerpfad and Kurt-Schumacher-Damm, the Paul-Hertz-Siedlung (1960–1965) to the east of it, and the Charlottenburg part of Siemensstadt (1929–1932), the "Ringsiedlung" by Hans Scharoun and Martin Wagner. The large estate was planned by Scharoun.
According to the district office, the estates are regarded as a prime example of "organic urban planning" in the spirit of the "dispersed city"; entrances are therefore not always directly on the street. Include the stairwell, lift and the route from the parking space to the flat in the survey, so that the team can estimate the carrying steps. Our article on the furniture lift explains when a lift is worthwhile. Also ask your property management about the house rules and quiet hours for moves, to avoid delays on moving day. If needed, we dismantle and reassemble furniture (furniture assembly).
Re-registration: Register your new flat within 14 days of moving in. According to service.berlin.de, you need the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) and an ID; there is no fee. You will find neighbouring areas on the pages for Charlottenburg and Westend.
