Service Details

International move at a fixed price.

International moves from Berlin to Austria, Switzerland, Poland or the Netherlands – fixed price after a survey, liability under the HGB. We take care of packing, transport and assembly; we clarify customs formalities (e.g. for Switzerland) with you in advance so that your move abroad stays predictable.

An international move from Berlin to Austria, Poland, the Netherlands or Switzerland differs above all in one respect: customs. Within the EU there are no customs checks on your household goods; for Switzerland you need a customs declaration for removal goods. We plan the route, driving times and paperwork with you, pack and deliver right into your new flat. Liability under the German Commercial Code (HGB) (§ 451e: €620 per m³) applies to your belongings, with additional insurance on request. The basis is a fixed price after a survey.

What makes a move abroad different

When moving abroad, three questions come on top of boxes and furniture: are customs duties due? How long is the route for the driver? Where do you register at your new place of residence? Praktik Transport und Umzüge plans this with you from Berlin – from packing to unloading. For routes within Germany, there are our long-distance moves with distances in kilometres for each destination.

  • Customs and registration questions clarified before loading day
  • One contact person from planning to arrival
  • Dates and delivery windows confirmed in writing

Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland: what applies in each country

Every destination country has its own rules. The key points for your move abroad at a glance:

  • Austria: EU, no customs; registration within three days of moving in (Meldezettel)
  • Switzerland: not an EU member, customs declaration for removal goods
  • Poland: EU, household goods without customs formalities
  • Netherlands: EU, no customs; storage if required

You can find an overview of destinations on our location and country pages.

Customs only outside the EU

For Switzerland, household goods are duty-free if you move your residence there and have used the items yourself for at least six months. They are declared with form 18.44 at a customs office for commercial goods, on working days only. For Great Britain, customs law has applied since Brexit; relief is available through a ToR1 application before shipping.

  • Inventory list of your removal goods
  • Proof of renting or buying the new home
  • Submit the application in good time before loading day
